Just pick up a new hobby, it'll prolly be cheaper and better for your health no matter what you pick...unless it's other drugs..or cars..or..nevermind.
Good Luck, -Vatharul

Try slowly coming down, and smoking/vaporizing cannabis instead. That's what I'm going to do

Neither. Its alllll up to you. I tried the patch, but they made me sick and I still wanted a cigarette. I realized it was all up to me, but I just didnt have the motivation to quit.
Then I got strep-thoat. I couldnt smoke if I wanted to for a week. Its now been about 2 weeks and I figure I might as well keep on going. The patches never got me this far....
My advise is to get really sick.

Either that maybe try smoking a cigar instead so you still get nicotine but you're not inhaling? I don't know, just trying to help

I gave up smoking four years ago. I was chewing gum for a year or so and then realised I was addicted to the gum.
Cold turkey is the only way - you feel pretty shitty for a few weeks but gradually start to feel the benefits until you wonder why you ever enjoyed smoking in comparison to having clear lungs and more energy.
Most people who do it cold turkey never smoke again - you just don't want to go through the sleepless nights and cravings again.

cold turkey.
completely quitting spontaniously has proved to give the best results (scientific research proved that). So if you want to quit do it right now when you read this post and dump the cigarettes you have left in the trashcan! (no it isn't a waste of ciggies, dump 'em!). Willpower is what you need. be strong and quit RIGHT NOW. I dare you.
ps good luck, you can do it if you really want to

According to everyone I know that has successfully quit.. cold turkey is the only way.
The other ways.. you are still addicted to nicotine. When I worked at CVS years ago, there was this lady that would come in and buy the gum every week.. at $50 a box. I asked when she quit smoking and she said "2 years ago... I'm addicted to the gum"
The actual addiction/withdrawal isn't that bad, rather minor. It's more of a mental thing.

trying eating seeds like sunflower seeds. or oranges. or everytime you crave a cigarette drink a glass of water.
and in response to "The actual addiction/withdrawal isn't that bad, rather minor. It's more of a mental thing."
I hear heroin and nicotine addicts being compared to each other all the time. Then again, i dunno how valid their comparison is in terms of addiction. The addiction/withdrawl is not breezey though. It's no detox but i mean it's definitely hard.

reverse psycholegy... and of course cold turky! it's getting rid of the habbit not the addiction that's the problame...
you're just so habitually used to lighting up a cig after eating while drinking when in the pub while on a break......... simply stop and realize when you're used to lighting up and then tell your self "i don't want a cig! i've stopped" untill you won't have to remind your self...
good luck
