Is manure just casing?!?!? and more questions

I was reading a post that had claimed manure was a casing and not a nutrient for the myc. to use. I found this VERY odd because i had taken a peice of colonized manure from one kit and made another one with it that flushed. No straw or grain was added to the second kit.... therefor the confusion.
Also, when using manure outside with a kit do you have to pasturize it? I read that it wont grow contams but somebody i spoke to said that I should. I have black kow so could i get away with not pasturizing it? Outdoors the area im using is 6' by 4' and im going to use straw and manure.
Also, i have 10 containers about 10" by 13" wide / long. There 8" deep and im going to make a kit out of each one. I cant pasturize anything so could i use black kow with the rye cakes? If i added straw that was not pasturized would it just bring contaminants in? Or if it colonized fast could i avoid that?
Would it be better to make large grow logs (4' by 2') or smaller kits that take up the same space? Thank you for any input guys (and girls).

You don't want to pasturize with outdoor grows. you can use black kow, but it's not recommended. The best thing you can get is weathered horse poo. And few smaller ones would be better.

horses poo it out. find your nearest local horse. failing that consult the yellow pages for riding lessons or farms anywhere that would have a horse. then cold call them and ask if you can pick up some poo. honestly they are happy to get rid of it most of teh time. saves paying to remove it right.

So just go there and be like, "hello sir may i drop by and pick up your horses poo?" I.... dont know if i can do that haha. Will it be that big of a difference outdoors? It is a large area so i would need... i think i need like 200 pounds so that could be difficult.
another question. When making smaller kits (tubs) that are 10 by 13" could i throw in some straw without pasturizing it or would ijust be making it much more likely for contam's ? Im using black kow but i was wondering if i could bennifit from adding some straw.

get a truck. call a stable. tell them you want horse poo. if they ask, tell them its for your garden. (They probably wont ask) Go to the stable, load up the truck with poo. Then drive home. Lay the poo out in the sun and soak with water. Let it dry.

Ok if i take the same space, 4 by 6 feet. How drastic of a difference could there be between the two (cow manure and horse)? I know there can be a BIG difference but how big are we talking about? Im going to use 1 pint rye cake per square foot and how much ever hay i need.
and another question i still dont know about.
