So, the smaller the shrooms, the higher potency (per weight), right? Could you pick your shrooms before full maturity? In theory, you should get the same overall weight because you have a set amount of nutrients that can be used up. However, I imagine that the yield would be slightly less, due to the stress of a more than normal number of flushes. I got this idea from the idea that aborts are more potent... what do you think

well think about it.
an 8th of aborts would be like 100tiny aborted shrooms. 8th of normal shrooms can have 8-20shrooms(IME).
so of course 100shrooms will be more potent than 20 or so.

The theory that your total yield (dry) is equal to the amount of nutriends you put into your casing/cake? Of course, this is if everything goes perfectly...

The mycelium needs to use nutrients to live. The mushrooms use up alot of the nutrients, but to get the weight from a bunch of tiny shrooms from like a dozen flushes you picked prematurely you would have to drain alot of the energy from the substrate just to support the mass of fungus which is producing the mushrooms. It is a bad idea, if you pick them before they are mature you will be dissapointed. Not just will alot of nutrients be drained by the mycelium, but in the time it takes to get all those flushes of tiny shrooms you could easily just do more grows.

I dont know...I ate some immature ones before, when I first started growing 4 3inchers to be exact and was extremely fucked up beyond belief. And I have eaten 8 grams dried before!

The optimal time to harvest is just as the veil is breaking. After this psilocin production drops off and the mushroom concentrates on sporulation. At this point it's just adding more weight and wasting nutrients.
