pocorn tek?

Just curious, what's the best popcorn method?

how about this:

-Soak for 24 hours then drain
-refill water then bring to boil
-simmer for an hour
-strain
-let dry for 1 hour
-fill jars and PC

Is there a better method than that, or will that work fine?

So you don't pre-soak it?

How long does it usually take you to colonize a quart?

10 days for me

heres what i do soak corn for 36-48 hours simmer for 30 min with same water soaked in then let dry until it no longer drips and when u load the corn in the jars no water whatsoever puddles at the bottom, most grains fail because they are too fuckin wet make sure ur grains are fairly dry on the outside

IME it's only easy to shake if you let it drain long enough. I let the corn drain overnight. If the corn is too wet on the outside it will stick together because corn is very starchy.

I havn't found a way to remove ALL the starch from the corn, but if it's dry enough on the outside they will not stick together.

Dry on the outside, Wet on the inside. Thats the key.

The popcorn doesn't expand if you pre-soak it and simmer it,right?

You should just go ahead and fill the jar all the way? (3/4 full)

this is sooo true. i think that applies to every grain you will work with.

yes fill the jar 1/2 to 3/4 full and make sure the corn shake nice before you pressure cook it.

I read somewhere if you add millet to the popcorn it speeds up colonization time.

My colonization time is 9 days with CC using an LC.

Fast enough for me.
