question for anyone who knows

my ? is, is it possibel to steralize jars with substrate in them(brown rice flour vermiculite and water), and then let them sit for a long period of time.. such as 2 months or even 8 months. thanks

The jars would lose their moisture content. Considering fruits are 90% water, I would try to inoculate them as soon as possible.

You can but your contam risk goes way up the longer you let them sit. You have to keep them completely sterile and if you ae going to go that route acually seal them. What i mean is dont poke holes in the lids, screw the lids down tite,seal side down ,pressure cook and let them seal. (Called caning) That will keep the moister and they will store for quite some time.

if done right they should be good for at least a month with the experineces i have had. any longer than that they do start to lose their moisture content.
