Would it be a waste to put my spores in cakes like these ones? Dunno what happened, they looked fine before I pressure cooked them. I guess I didn't press tight enough those aluminum foil lids and got water inside the glasses.
Should I inoculate? (Sorry about the picture, I had to cut some parts of it using windows paint - I'm not an expert on computers - so you can take a better look if you save this file and open it)

No, way to wet. I could be wrong someone may have had success but thats a good breeding ground for all sorts of contams. Even if mycelium begins to colonize, it will take a very long time.
If you dont have access to canning jars, buy some coffee filters and rubber bands. Cover the top with two or 3 coffee filters, then maybe a double layer of tin foil, and seal off with a rubber band. Poke a few small holes in the foil for gas exchange, but not to many

One more thing... Can I throw these back in a bowl and add some more verm and BRF, and, when I have the right thing, pasteurize again? Or it would be, uh, overcooked?

i don't believe you can over cook them, but i'd just chuck em and start a new batch. it'll be easier to get the ratio correct starting from scratch. are you using glasses or jars? if glasses are used, i'd get some jars.. then the use tyvek and foil to cover them and sterilize, not pasteurize. 45 min at 15 psi should be gravy... gl

I'll manage to get more verm. It's not easy to find it around here.
Oh, I meant sterilize, not pasteurize, just didn't know the difference... My glasses were only used in my last grow, which I got infected (+15th day after cased). And I mean infected cos another weird mushroom grew. what's tyvek?

tyvek is a paperlike material that dupontcreated in use for envelopes and protection for drywall in housing construstion. it is far more durable than coffee filters and paper and also is breathable(allows gas exchange, not air exchange) and fairly waterproof. you can cut disks to use as a contam barrier in the jars. do a search and you'll find lots of info.
pasteurize is used for straw and poo. you heat it up enough(160-180 f) to kill the bacteria but not the benificial micro organisms and nutes. sterilize is when you emiminating any and all of the organisms and bacteria.
check grain/ feed stores for more verm

Thanks for all information. When I get back to my country I'll look for "fancy" stuff. I doubt I'll be able to find any tyvek here. It sounds pretty good, just what I need, but unavaiable. And the vermiculite will have to wait till sat. when I'm off. Hope my cakes are okay this time.

tyvek isnt really needed for pf jars as ive read thats what the vermiculite topping is for and i never mess with it in my grains either and still get a 10 day colonization rate

Akeo...walk into a post office and look for express mail envelopes (about 10" x15")....if you want to make sure look on the corner of the flap (or the part you lick). It should say DuPont Tyvek. That's it. Cut circles out of it...4 jars per envelope. Take as many as you can without the post office guy yelling...and then order some online usps.com i think. Somewhere on the site you can order up to 500 for free! no questions asked.

this may be a little late.........
but i had jars JUST LIKE this........i think i added too much water to my BRF/VERM mixture......because i had foil, tape, foil, and tape wrapped around those things in the PC........
i went ahead and knocked them up anyway.......
but, just to let everyone know-they DID all colonize, with no contams (i guess i may be a little lucky with that one) BUT, they colonized very very slowly...........
when my normal jars were 100%, the jars like these ones were about 75%....... and i had to pick out alot of the uncolonized parts.....
my advice is to toss them also.........but, it can work........
