will it still succeed??
    #547817 - 02/11/02 11:32 AM (22 years, 11 months ago)

I started the pf tek 52 days ago. After colonization I put them in my terrarium and have been at 98% humidity since. Room temp is always between 70-80 F. I have grown about 5 decent sized mushrooms but..I made an error which I hope is not fatal. When I berthed my cakes I never flipped them right side up and they were growing from the bottom. Upon researching why my development was so slow, I found an article that stressed the importance of having them face the same way up as when they colonize(this was never mentioned in the pf tekinfo.) On the 48th day I saw this and flipped them back over. Two days later I saw an article on the Dunk tek and decided that since I had them in a difficult position for so long that the cakes started to dry out so I did the 12 hour dunk tek and this is the second day since I have put them back in the chamber. Finally my question for all of the experts that I have read info from on this board..will they still succeed or has it been too long and they have gone into some form of retardation never to rear their pretty faces in multiple flushes. Thank you in advance for any help.

First, it does'nt matter which way you set your cakes. Now, your chances of a decent flush diminish with time. That is not to say you're fucked. Just be patient and see what "pops up".

52 days? Chuck them and start a new batch.

you dont have to chuck them..it seems like you just had an unbalanced substrate. (low water probably.)

52 days inside the jar however, with only some colonization, THEN you should chuck them.
