PF-Tek questions
    #5477965 - 04/04/06 03:57 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I am currently waiting on my grow bag and cubensis spores.
I have a few questions i would like to get off my back:
1) How can i tell if the cake is contaminated or just bluing after the first flush(s)?
2) Sould i leave the smaller mushrooms to grow and pick the larger ones in a flush?
3) When can i stop worrying about contamination? After the mycelium has grown?
4)Is a mushroom Ok for consumption after taking a spore print, like the large horizontal cap mushrooms?

cheers

1)if ur curious to weather its contam or mold take a moist q-tip and rub it on the suspected area if any rubs on the q-tip its contam but mature full grown cakes are pretty damn resistant to contams. So if u get a little blue on ur fully colonized cake its almost certainly bruising

2)i always do! let the little guys fully mature and pic the mature guys

3) well u should never stop worrying about contams completely because it can contam at any time but the more mycelium thats present the less likely it is to contam

4)hell yeah just because theyre flat doesnt mean there bad i actually like to wait till all my mushrooms are that mature, take a print from ALL the mushies and then eat up mmmm because if u let em grow until the last moment ull max out on the weight

4. The best time to pick them, if not printing, is right before the veil breaks. Otherwise you have to eat more for the same effects.
