BLUE GREEN near caps on budding shrooms

Hey, I read something about these dark blue/green shades near the caps being "aborts". they have just bud and they are about 1/2 inch big, is that information accurate? should i just harvest them, get rid of them, or let them keep going?
Also, I did not wait until i saw little orange pin heads until i removed my cakes from the jars. THey were just completely white. They are now starting to get fuzzy. Will they still make it? I have ONE mushroom that is 2-3 in long and some mini pin heads but nothing like the multitude of pins i've seen on these pictures.
This is my first time obviously.
I decided to just put my cakes directly on the jar lids on perlite. One cake got a spongy rust on the bottom. I broke it off but should i just chuck it?
And some are starting to turn a light shade of blue is that just bruising most likely? please let me know i feel like an ass! thanks dready bean

pop the cap off one if it comes off easily it's an abort, this is one way to tell if not sure.

I would aborts will have a totally blue-green stem. The sooner you learn to spot aborts the better off you'll be.

The pinheads that you speak of are probably going to end up as aborts. But understand that aborts are highly potent themselves, so harvest them when you harvest the rest of your larger fruits. As far as your cake is concerned, I wouldn't expect a contamination from allowing them to sit on the lids themselves. Try cleaning the lids before you place your cakes on them to prevent the problem in the future. As far as the discoloration is concerned, I am going to presume that it's just bruising, and it's nothing to worry about.
Best of luck. Drop me a line if you need any more help.

1) Abhorts - The suggestion made about popping off a cap is a very good one... After a little while, you'll be able to spot them without any difficulty. Also to consider is this... the whole process from pin --> mature mushroom takes place pretty rapidly... If it doesn't have any growth for a couple days, its probably an abhort.
2) Birthing - Your cakes sound like they were fully colonized, however as you pointed out, its often preferable to birth once they start pinning. The as long as the "fuzziness" is the same bright white as the rest of the cake, its just mycelium. You'll be able to tell if mold starts to grow, because it will be a distinctly different color. This "fuzziness" is most likely due to the high humidity levels inside the fruiting chamber. I've heard debates from both sides about whether or not humidity should be adjusted at that point. I have found it to be a non-issue. Cakes like moisture, just make sure you're not getting condensations. You have plenty of time to fiddle around with your setup later, but on this first grow, you're going to want to play it safe and reap the rewards of your work.
Anyways, for the rest of your concerns, it sounds like your cakes are pretty healthy overall. Don't be intimidated by all of the pictures, it took those people a lot of experience before they reached that level. As you probably already know, your cakes will most likely have multiple flushes. You may consider searching for information on "dunking" and "cold shocking" your cakes after you have harvested the first flush. The blue is most likely bruising, but if you're really concerned, you can post some pics and we'll help out
Good luck and welcome to the shroomery
