your begging for an infection if you use a pin or sewing needle. Pay a professional you don't want to lose part of your face.

Not only will you run a fairly high chance of getting a serious infection, it will probably look terrible anyway... a lip piercing shouldn't cost more than $40 with some stainless steel hardware. If you can't afford the $40, you can't afford the medical treatment and prescriptions you'll need to fight off the staph. spp.

the only part of the body that is "safe" to pierce oneself (and "safe" being relative) is the earlobes. anything else you should really shell out the cash to get professionally done

I see no problem with using a safety pin to pierce yourself. Be sure to not sterilize it in any way.

Don't pierce your lip with a safety pin...that's just retarded. Let's assume you can somehow sanatize it, without ruining the coating it has, and get it through your lip. Then let's assume even further, and say your a lazy, poor bastard, whom uses said safety pin as "jewelry" for said piercing. Your saliva would tear through it at an astonishing rate, causeing more problems than you want. And while we're at it, the typical safety pin is 16 gauge. If by some chance that gets snagged, or pulled at softly, it would cut itself out of your face.

Youd be better off going to a studio, or at the very least buying some needles and proper jewelry.

(I mean, sure go ahead.)
