I am going to go see him speak on the 9th which also happens to be my birthday. I'm pretty pumped about it. Has anyone else heard any of his spoken word stuff? I have No more cocoons on vinyl and the big kaboom part one on cd.

Yeah, I have "No More Cocoons", "Beyond The Valley Of The Gift Police" and "I Blow Minds For A Living" as well as all the DK stuff naturally. I saw him speak once. I got his autograph and asked him a couple of questions. Because of the fact that he advocates legalizing marijuana, I thought I'd ask him about psychedelics (even though I knew he wouldn't be very down with it). It went like this.........
Learyfan: "Do you believe that psychedelics could help facilitate human evolution?" Jello: "No, I do not believe that (he said it as if he thought it was a ridiculous question, of course). Have you ever seen all those burn outs from the sixties?"
I think he elaborated on that, but that's all I remember.

I have both No More Cocoons and Machine Gun in the Clown's Hand. I think the latter is a little better.
That will be a good birthday

i saw him speak like a year and a half ago. it was good, although long (i left at intermission after 3 hours, i guess he talked for another 2 hours - until almost 1am). however most of the stuff are insights that anybody with half-of-a-mind and an understanding of the modern geo-political situation would have already had..

I've seen him speak live twice. I agree with most of what he says, but then there are a few things that he says just make me cringe & shake my head. and yes, as krishna said, he goes on for hours.
hearing noam chomsky & michael albert speak were way more interesting.

I've heard a few of his spoken word albums, and he's entertaining, informative too I guess.

Me too. Although I disagree with his assertion in Kinky Sex that the government wanted people experimenting with LSD in order to keep the anti-war movement weak. They wanted people to experiment with it briefly so that they could see whether it could be used as a cold war weapon. Once they realized it wasn't what they were looking for and once they saw that it was fueling the anti-war movement, they came down on it.
I love his impromptu spoken word piece Night Of The Living Rednecks on "Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death" and I also like how he talks about Body Count's song Cop Killer on "Beyond The Valley...."
