Another Terrarium Post
    #547317 - 02/11/02 02:25 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

this is my first terrarium design, I am new to this and would like to know if there is anything I am missing. I am using the PF-tek.

This is my second terrarium design, there are 3 factor I can use yo obtain optimum temp&humidity. The Cool mist, a heating pad, and the perlite.

I am open to any comments or constructive criticism, or just any way to make things work. (Work meaning a successful flush) Again I am new @ this.

In reference to the bottom pic: It looks like your off to a good start. However I would not advise sitting the cool mist humidifier in any enclosed container- it could short out due to hevay mosture condensation.

holy shit, that looks extensive, i say you just use a rubbermaid, perlite humidfication, drop a air bubbler in there so you don't have to fan, put a filter in the bottom corner for air flow, and the heating pad underneith the bottom of the terrarium, and your choice of light, don't go overboard man, next step is a glovebox

the bottom one looks quite a bit like my friends, but you have the light sitting on top, may not be the best deal for heat etc. also if you have a humdidfier i dont know about cool mist, but if my friend had his hooked straight into his terr. without any type of 2-Liter bottels, it would be full of very very humid air and then quite a bit of water in about 2 days. most people say you cant have too much humidity with cakes, but from the way it looks when he runs his for a an hour straight, i think you can.

I have my humidifier right in the terrarium man. but then again, i have a very large terrarium, so that may be effecting it. hehe. the cord runs outside, so theres no electrical connections inside.

I heard from someone about a personal humidifier. It is small, (about 10"x4") think a small one like that would work if I placed it inside a smaller type terrarium?(28"x17"x24") Cut maybe 2 ventilation hole's with air filters @ the top.

Pet store near me called PetCo. (it's a chain) They sell smaller and larger size heating pads, for reptiels I think.

you can also buy heating pads like the ones you put on your muscles (works fine for me) at Kmart or Rite Aid or some drug store
