I know all about datura's effects.
That's quite a thing to say, traveler..
We can't positively ID, we really need a photo session. The bush itself, shape of a leaf, the flower if you got it, the pod and the seed. The eexact species is very important when it comes to Datura.
Once we knowe that it is in fact Datura, the shape and size of the seeds is important.

Anybody know what the safest way to ingest datura is (I know its all unsafe, but I'm going to do it anyway)
That you don't know this most crucial basic fact, but still want to imbide is.. ummm.. well its not your finest hour I hope.
If you were to eat it, how much would you take? (weight)

It's Allamanda cathartica. Positively identified based on some images I looked up. Thanks.

a just as i thought , it makes a nice garden plant tho if you take out the seeds
this is why positive id are so important, this plant wouldnt have killed you but will have given you fever, swollen lips, nausea, diarrhea and so on if you ingested it, just touchin the sap gives skin irriations.

Sweetgum balls tend to be smaller and with less spikes...that was one of my thoughts at first too. I guess there's no more need for ID though.

It's not datura.
Datura seedpods tend to be slightly obloid, and as they mature there should be a visible scoring of the pod into quarters.
That and the leaves are completely different.

I doubt that it is datura. I was going to offer sending you some datura seeds to grow (quite a marvelous plant)but now that I know your intention to ingest the seeds I passed up on my offer. Datura can be dangerous. Watch out. The seeds shouldn't be that hard to come across...

safest way would still be not to ingest datura! and if you still want to get "fucked up" check out erowid... though you'd be better off trying 90% of the other interesting drugs out there rather then datura
be safe!
I am not looking to get "fucked up". I have heard that datura can be a powerful spiritual ally, and would like to meet such. I am not a kid looking for a cheap high, I am a spiritual seeker who is trying to be as safe as possible, and thus was hoping on any valuable information on spiritual uses of this plant other than Carlos Castaneda, who I do not fully trust or believe. Thanx

I agree borgface. In addition it tends to be more of an herbaceous ground plant, that twig you have looks mighty woody.
In addition, I believe chess nuts and Ohio buckeye and a few other trees have seed pods like that, and some of them are actually toxic. I would be sure you know what you are eating before ingesting random seed pods.
Furthermore, datura grows like a weed. You can't get rid of it usually, and its around lots of buildings you wouldn't expect to see it...right under your nose...Do some google image pictures and look at the flowers.
