Is this datura?
    #5472910 - 04/02/06 11:49 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I was reading some old posts when I came across this one.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/3997508#Post3997508

I found a plant exactly like that person has. Is this datura? There wasn't a concrete answer in that thread.

I also don't have a picture of the flowers. This was in Florida though.

I don't really think so. Those look like these spikey balls that fall off trees and in the summer you walk around and step on them.  :crankey:

Horse chestnut? No, read the other person's post. He describes it. It's a bush type thing.

It could be a small pod though. Can't you get a pic of the flowers or a nice close up of a big leaf? Are those leaves slightly fuzzy and smell really bad?

Yes and no, I have no personal experience with any tropanes, but definetly not something to be messed around with. W_S has some experience and if I remember correctly has chosen it, or maybe it chose him as an ally. Maybe he will chime in and shed some light :sun:

I know all about datura's effects. I just want to identify this plant. Yes, it has a weird smell. My friend's dog would not leave me alone when the leaves were in my pocket. I noticed a sticky wax type thing on the bigger leaves, too.

ok, if its a bushy plant about 1 meter or less in height, has trumpet shaped flowers(possibly wrong season) and those balls grow between the nodes yes its datura. it apears to me that flower is purple which would lead me to belevie D. metel variety. from my personal experences datura can be great but it can also be a temporay scitsoprehia lost 2 days if your not carefull. basicly start small and see what happens you may or may not enjoy the effects. ive seen a few people take way the hell to much and go nuts for a few days and ive dosed small enough to trip and high enough to loose it. eh its an experence to be had either way just be carefull.

safest way would still be not to ingest datura!
and if you still want to get "fucked up" check out erowid...
though you'd be better off trying 90% of the other interesting drugs out there rather then datura

be safe!

It's either datura or chestnut. If you could get a better picture of the leaves or a better description of what you got it from, it would definitely help.

It's definitely not chestnut. It doesn't grow in Florida. The flower looked like a bush about 2-3 feet high. Yellow trumpet flowers about 2 inches long. There was a sticky secretion on some of the bigger leaves. I wasn't paying attention to the smell but my friend's dog wouldn't leave me alone trying to sniff the leaves in my pocket. I'll post pictures of the inside later tonight. What other flower has seed pods like this in Florida?

It looks like it could be "sweet gum " to me. Not a Thorn apple.
