My predictions: Andrei by submission 1st round.
Tito Ortiz by TKO 2nd round [or maybe first].

I really want Forrest to win, he's a hell of a lot more charismatic than Tito, but yeah.... Tito's gonna clean up. He's got a hell of a lot more experience.
Andrei is going to clean up too,
Any opinion on Diaz?

All fighter's stupid attitudes aside...
arlovski (of course, no competition in UFC) probably ortiz probably diaz don't care don't care don't care parisyan (has potential in my opinion) yeah pride is better
still haven't watched bushido 10...i can't wait till this evening! go hansen!
(and i'm more excited about pride's openweight tournament than ufc 59 but of course, being an mma fan i'll still watch ufc :P)

just to clarify before explaining...these are my opinions, i'm sure some might disagree with what i say...
well first and foremost, there are better all round fighters from all over the world in pride. in ufc, the only real talent is in the light heavyweight (chuck liddel and not much else) and welterweight (matt hughes & st. pierre) classes. in pride, you've got the best heavyweight in the world (fedor emilianenko), if you were to match up arlovski and emilianenko it's no doubt that fedor would kick his ass. pride's got wanderlei silva in the light heavyweight division (possibly chuck liddel could be a good opponent - he's gotten better but who knows) and pride's got a good lightweight division which ufc doesn't have...at the moment takanori gomi is the belt holder..though there are other talented lightweights in pride such as hansen...
second, it's more interesting to watch - take for example, knees to the head and head stomps are allowed in pride..in UFC only elbows to the head are allowed, which arguably can lead to a boring watch cause of doctor stopages of matches due to cuts above the eye.
third, less corporate bullshit in pride...when you watch a pride event you don't have to sit there watching xyience and deoderate and shitty movie promotions. it's all about the fighting not the sponsorship.
in another thread skorpio had pasted a youtube.com link to some pride KOs..i suggest you watch that and judge for yourself which is more interesting..pride or ufc.

I just hate pride because it's in a ring and I feel like the octagon is a much more suitable arena for MMA. I really want griffin to take tito. I fuckin hate tito. He's such a punk. I also hate diaz. He's a punk too. They're both good fighter, I just hate their attitudes and love to see'm get their ass kicked. Other than that I could care less about the other fights. I'll still watch'm though.

he still holds the belt and that's his first lost in pride...otherwise, he's still a good fighter...just as how i think hansen has quite a big chance in getting hte belt in the next tournament
but i forgot to add...
with pride, they're having an open weight tournament in may. this being said, they don't have this in the UFC...depending on how they match up the fighters for hte open weight tournament...this opens up new possibilities with MMA...i can't wait

Gomi actually went unconscious cause he didn't tap and then the ref jumped in.
Now I'm going to propose a controversial and radical theory of thought, okay here it goes.
Both Pride and UFC have their strong and weak points and it is impossible to definitively declare one superior to the other.

Would you dare a signature/avatar bet on that? I'll bet on Arlovski. Whoever wins, gets to choose the loser's avatar and signature - which must be worn by the loser for precisely two weeks.

I don't know. You could make an argument that Liddel and Franklin are top of their class and the welterweight division is stacked.
Pride defiantly has more depth on their roster.

No doubt Chuck got beat BAD by page and being a fan of both guys would love to see a rematch.
You know we could also throw some Belfort Silva and Tito Silva picks up there, hell even some Yoshida ones .
The thing I was getting at is that its not as A class B class as somke make out (heavyweight excepotion). I'd say both an Henderson and Franklin and Silva Chuck fights would be close and damn near toss up.

On what logical, rational grounds do you base such a prediction on? Mind you, I certainly don't think that Arlovski would be a push-over for Fedor. Not at all.
But hell, in no way, would Arlovski hand FEDOR his ass. Look at what Fedor has accomplished, in contrast to what Arlovski has accomplished. Fedor has literally manhandled everything Pride has tossed in the ring with him, from the best grappler in the world to the most dangerous striker in the world. His record is 23-0-0 [barring the absurd loss to a cut on his forehead that should've ended in a NC - which he avenged in pure bloodshed later]. He has literally manhandled all the top competition Pride has tossed his way. Arlovski -although highly formidable- pales in comparison. This is why ole' lovski needs to get his ass to Pride. That's where the big boys play.
Sergei and Arlovski would be a much more suspenseful fight, IMO - although, I'd still give the edge to Sergei. I'd give the edge to Arlovski against CroCop, since Arlovski is adept in Sambo, whereas CroCop still remains weak in his groundgame. Come to think of it, Arlovski vs Aleksander Emelianenko would be a definite sight to see - probably moreso than any of the aforementioned matches.
Boo said: "Arlovski is from Belarus..."
But Belarus is -from what I've been told- already nearly identical to Russia on so many levels, it's almost hairsplitting to contrast the two.
A more accurate assertion would be that Eastern Europe seems to produce the best fighters in the HW division. Fedor, Aleks, Sergei, Arlovski, etc. Interesting trend.

Come on Tim
Would you dare a signature/avatar bet on that? I'll bet on Arlovski. Whoever wins, gets to choose the loser's avatar and signature - which must be worn by the loser for precisely two weeks.
You know what i am a good sport. You're on.

Alright, Mr. S, evidently my sig/avatar caught the attention of an admin [Anno], and demanded that I take them down as they are in conflict with the general rules and parameters here on this board. So, unfortunately, I will have to cut our bet short. I carried it out for as long as I can, and in the end, I learned a few interesting things about a few other people, and had many good laughs.
Perhaps next time, we can bet "shroomery-money".

and he's better on his feet in my opinion
its arguable until they step in the ring
any given day in either arena - remember that elvis homo vs sacaroba fight
member that hughes vs penn fight
hell heath herring had a chance after being obliterated for 9 minutes
what it boils down to is I think arlovski would win
sue me
i'll let you keep that opinion, but i'll state why i think otherwise.
Simply, fedor has beaten the best in the world in his division. And the manner in which he has beaten those fighters is also somewhat remarkable. He grappled with Antonio ROdrigo Nogueira, who was a two time BJJ world champion, and submitted many MANY strong opponents. Yet Fedor saw all of his submissions coming, countered before Nogueira could lock in a submission, and delivered many heavy shots from within Nog's full guard.
When Fedor fought Cro-Cop, one of the best kickboxers in the world (look at his k-1 accomplishments), he didn't go for takedowns. He stood there and boxed with cro cop for the majority of the 3 rounds. And he again faired better than the world class kickbozer on the feet. Not only in aggression, but landing more shots, taking controll of the center of the ring, etc.
Arlovski really hasn't beaten any strong opponents. Tim Sylvia, that's about it. His other wins in the UFC have been against Cabbage (who Tank Abbott would later KO), Mutseyenko (undersized, VERY undersized), Ian Freeman (perenial B level fighter), Paul Buentello (another perenial B level fighter with minimal accomplishments), and Justin Eilers (had KO loss to Buentello).
Arlovski's ground game really isn't that strong either. He was a JUNIOR sambo champion, a title he won before he was 16. Compare that to Fedor, who was a 4- time national Russian Sambo champion, along with a multiple Comabt Sambo champion, which is even more pretigious and elite than the national sambo league.
As for saying who is stronger and faster, it's really impossible to determine, although it's clear to me Arlosvki doesn't have a strong chin, while Fedor has taken all kinds of shots, slams, kicks, and kept perservering.
at this point, Arlovski isn't anywhere near the same level as Fedor. If you don't believe me go look at world rankings from websites all over the internet.
