i know there are people such as myself who cut, for whatever reason they have. i was just wondering if any of you have done it while on shrooms, or any other drug for that matter. maybe your too fucked up to think about something like that but, let me know

I think he means cut as in self-mutilation.Its a pretty common practice among those who feel they don't belong,for various reasons,whether to externalize pain,or whatever.

ohhh, i got you... like depresed tired of being here type of shants, i once cut myself while comming down on E, i was extremely fucked up and had been in a real bad state of mind for a few weeks, still got some big nasty scars, but i'm ok now thanks to some prescribed medicine, i'm glad i don't get like that anymore because now knowing that cutting doesn't work i would try something outrageous like base diving without a parachute or something, sounds bad but thats how you start thinking when you get really depressed and shit doesn't go your way, yeah its childish and inconsiderate, but thats what anti depressants are for...

Yeah I used to date a girl that did that shit. When I was dating her she supposedly stopped but one time she came to my house with blood stains on her shirt and new scabs. I didnt know her for very long and I didnt want to get involved with someone that did shit like that. She said she did because the physical pain took her mind off the emotional pain (depression?) Anyway I think its stupid and theirs a hell of alot better ways to deal with your problems then cutting yourself.

...yeah on alcohol, but not on shrooms...I always consciously think about NOT doing it before I dose... Haven't done it for years but when I did it brought immediate relief from something I couldn't identify...then feelings of real remorse and "why did I do that" sort of thing....
Cutters are usually people who want to expose "stuff" instead of repressing it...

IMO you should see a psychiatrist... I know a lot of people who cut the absolute shit out of their arms... an old girlfriend of mine cut her arms from her wrists to her shoulders and has white streaks and some red streaks all the way up... she also cuts her tits up... another girls arms are almost entirely white on the top of her forearms (she wants to be a psychology major... surprise surprise)... Anyway, my point is... whatever immidiate gratification you get out of cutting, it is pointless and dumb (especially if you do it when you're sober to escape)... there are plenty of better solutions.

i don't think criticism is really the best way to approach this topic, or any topic for that matter. haven't we all experienced criticism from others for drug use?...
i'm curious cuddles, maybe you'd be willing to explain some of your reasons for cutting? and possibly some of the things you think you've gained from such experiences?
oh, and to me some sort of mental help isn't really going to be the answer, we're too stuck on the supposed wonders of anti-depressants right now to really care about spending time with someone to help them get a better understanding of themselves...
chemicals don't correct the mind...nothing really corrects it, it's all just alterations our minds experience
...isn't it possible that some of those who cut themselves have learned how to turn pain into something completely positive? just some thoughts.....

i didn't understand why anyone would cut, although i wasn't immature enough to call it retarded, i respect peoples life decisions and am not going to critisize them for what they do. i found out alot of ppl i know cut and i looked into their reasoning behind it to better understand it.
and then one day i wasn't doing so well and i tried it, and i've done it since
my parents tried to make me see a psychiatrist but i won't have any part of it and they can't force me to.
i think people make it seem like more of a deal than it really is
but then again you could tell me i have aids and i probably wouldn't give two shits

On saturday night my friend and I dosed (and he dosed HEAVY) and at the most intense part of the peak (for him) he asked me if I was sticking a knife down his throat ... and he was dead serious ...
It shouldn't have surprised me tho, because he forgot his name, he thought I was a figment of his imagination, and he asked me if it was ok for him to melt through the earth (among many other things) ...
but aside from that, I don't think I've ever been cut when fucked up.
last summer my friends and I got pretty stoned out of our minds, and I forgot I was sitting under this low ceiling and when i got up I knocked myself clean out. hehe

....take heart brave soul... you have the courage to be honest and open where others conceal a multitude of transgressions...
Like I said before: cutters tend to want to expose things instead of repressing them...even if they don't know what it is that needs to be exposed....
And let me add this---I'm an ex-cutter. I realized that I had to stop hurting myself-that the way to a happier healthier me was not by bleeding....
The bad part was that I was "bleeding" emotionally (when I did cut) and the people around me were denying the problems of abuse and control.
Cutting was a way to control what I couldn't control or change....it was a bizzare way of coping in an upside down world. It was a way of saying I can't change this, can't make other people acknowledge this, can't stand this, but I can do this----slice----and then watch the blood flow!!!!!!
It was empowering because I had my life in my hands and chose not to take it in suicide---but at the same time---I--- if no one else---was saying---this situation I can't change IS SERIOUS!!!!
It's twisted thinking but you never met my family....
And to the critics (who just don't understand because you have never had these experiences) some of you sound like the "Just say no to drugs" crowd you hate so much...
What about ancient cultures who cut themselves to contact their gods? Or what about the native american tribes who cut for spiritual purposes. Hanging a man from leather straps and spinning him from a pole with the straps piercing his chest with bone or wood?

Maybe you are just not being creative enough for people here. Cutting is really old. I reccomend burning your fingers, never enough to cause scars, but you use your fingers alot, so if you like pain, then keep every fingertip burnt. After you become bored with this, you can move on to not using soap. If you were to not use soap you would develop severe bacterial infections on your body. Huge gaping holes that would be the color purple, and bleed green. These are very painful, and can be achieved within 2 months of no soap, if you live dirty properly. Just freindly advice, also if you still like cutting why don't you get creative, and do it with needles, use individual stabs with ink on the point to give your self a tattoo. I am going to do my own tattoo one day like this. "Cutting is Trendy" sorry, I had to say it.

actually, if someone cuts themselves, i really wouldn't give a fuck...as long as they aren't cutting me. but ask yourself why? why do you cut yourself?? take a moment, step back and look at your arm/mutilated body part...just go get a tattoo, the rush is MUCH better.

if you want to know why people do it (Everyone has specific reasons) then you have the internet, search for it like i did. and to answer your question you can use anything sharp that will cut, i personally prefer exacto knives

I started cutting before I knew anyone else did it.
I do agree that it has become a trend.
A trend that I am not a part of.
Like drugs, there is a HUGE gap between people who do it and those who don't.
People who don't cut can never understand the motivation.
My motivation is that I am a crazy person.

tannis and vkk thanks for sharing your experiences, here's some insight to mine
why do i cut?
it takes me away, from everything, from this world, this place, this universe, away from people
people like half the people on this thread
i can't stand people, and i can't stand this planet
things happen day by day i know i shouldn't care about, but i do, and these things pile up over time
and eventually i'll just be sitting there, thinking and all of it will hit me at once
every single problem i am having will become aware to me all at the same time
these are what i call my emotional breakdowns, where i'll cry for about half an hour and then be fine
but recently that doesn't work, crying gets me nowhere
so i had read up on cutting and i decided hey, why not
its really not all that bad in my opinion, you heal (perhaps not psychologically, but you do physically heal, if you don't hit any major viens) so i don't really think its that big of a deal
so i tried it
and it worked
i cut and i bled, and everything went away
the pain was very very there, it wasn't going away
and thats all i could think about but then
i went into my own world
where nothing was wrong
everything was fine
i felt the blood going down my arm and it didn't bother me
it felt nice
i dont' do it daily, some people do
i do it when i need to
when i need my escape

cuddles sounds to me like you suffer from panic attacks. My wife is a child psycologist and maybe you need to see some counseling and maybe medication. I m sure you re going to see this as fuck me and i m part of the establishment or some shit like that but thats still the truth and the fact of the matter. if you need to talk to someone pm me and i ll put the wife on with you... hell at the very least it wont hurt you anymore than you re already hurting

I dont cut my self personaly. I dont think i could mentaly force my self to. I do enjoy pain though ( not in a sexuall way like that S&M stuff ), it makes me feel alive. I get extremely bored and nothing wakes you up like getting in a fight. Just a fake fight for fun between friends, still hurts though. Cutting sounds pretty serious. I know you never mentioned it(if you did i am sorry i missed it)but cutting sounds like the first step towards suicide. I really think you should see a counsaler(spell) or therapist and get something to take the place of cutting, you will thank your self later.

I have respect for my self and a real deep feeling for self survival. I knew a girl in high school that was a cutter. Well now SHE IS FUCKING DEAD
DEAD DEAD DEAD. Yeah thats right she slit both her wrists and blead to death. It really fucked me up when i found out she died from cutting herself. I felt so bad cuz i thought i could of prevented it some how some way. i didnt take it seriosly maybe you guys arent either. Life is a serious thing. I would prefer to see you guys not kill yerselves.
And should i even ask why the hell you have a cat in a box.

everyone has problems
some may be more serious than others
i do'nt value my life the way alot of people do
it really means nothing to me
so if i die i don't really care all that much
i'm not worried about it, if i die then i die thats that
maybe i do need some help but i don't think i do, my mom has tried but since i'm 16 they can't force me to see someone

btw vkk that cat looks so much like my old cat
we had to put him down
i had him from age 3 - 16
i cried for so long
i miss him, your cat looks just like him
i know i technically probably shouldn't be doing shrooms but i do and am fine so...yeah

That about explains it. Teenagers are so stupid. I know because I'm 19. Look, I'm not going to tell you the sob story of my junior high/high school years, mostly because it's no one's business, but I'll say this: shit happens. Everyone has different ways of dealing with it, some people use drugs (bad), some people get in fights (worse), and some people cut themselves (also bad). I don't know you, but it sounds to me like you are on dangerous path, and I really hope you do get some help. One day, you will learn how to deal with shit the worlds flings at you...things will start to make sense. But you have to stop cutting yourself open. You need to learn how to control, understand and channel your emotions and frankly if you are cutting you aren't yet capable of that. Seriously, it's always too nice a day to sit around bleeding. Good luck to you.

Well,
I think its obvious that just because you do drugs does not mean you are open minded... (if it wasnt before it is now)
People do all kinds of things for personal reasons. Until thier actions affect someone else its no ones place to criticize. I personally would not cut myself for many reasons from health (mentaly and physically) to philosophical reasons. I have direct experience with people who cut themselves and have realized that people do this for many different reasons, some of which I have found to be more understandable than others.

Those who cut themselves for an escape seem to find short term gratification, similar to those who use drugs for escape. The practice may provide brief ease, but eventually it can become a serious problem as satisfaction is not dirived as easiliy. (This is difficult for me to realate to)
Some cut themselves to provide a challenge... the human psyche has a strange need to work through challenges, to prove abilities, and at some level for everyone there is a need to experience the bad to enjoy the good. Many people Scarify to have something to show either for themselves or to others. (This is easier for me to relate to)
Some cut themselves for pleasure... to experience a new feeling not unlike using a drug. Often sexual, sadomasichism falls into an entirely different category than the above. (much easier to relate to)

As a person living in this society it is my natural inclination to try to push my views onto others. So I encourage people to think carefully about the long term affects, and potential problems that can arize from such actions. I feel that there are more constructive and creative ways to fulfil any of the above circumstances...
I hope that people are willing to be open about this topic despite the occasional criticism and lack of open mindedness....

Cutting is a sign of severe depression and disasociation and is often a tell-tale precursor to suicide - the ultimate cut. I have seen it first hand. The effects of a suicide on the family and friends is devastating. Don't let it go that far. In fact, don't let it go any further.

the cat went in there voluntarily. its a crazy cat.
its rare for me to cut myself anymore.
it doesnt really strike me as an option.
but there is stuff happening in my life of magnitude ive never encountered.
i dont think im gonna be doing much cutting in the future.
my thighs are covered with scars, its trippy.

i'm glad i could help you tannis although i don't know how i have (obviously its a personal thing (could i make any more of an obvious statement?)) altho feel free to enlighten me as to why in a pm
and i have a little hobby with people, i know people really well, i can't explain it, i wasn't out to help you but i find usually if someone is in need i can help them
i've been a close friend to a few girls for like 3 years and they usually come to me with guy problems (i hate guys, i'm a guy that hates guys, therefore i hate myself right? bingo (hehe))
anyways i am there for alot of people, so its kind of like informal counselling i guess

I can't really say how you helped me....this is the first time I've ever talked about this stuff. Maybe its kindof like the locker room thing/or the camping trip where "guys" just drop all the macho bullshit and get real with each other. You know--you kind of feel like "I'm the only one this happens to" or "I'm the only one going through this" sort of thing....

well with me and people its wierd
you can see someone crying and make the conclusion that that person is sad
well with me
i see other things that people don't see, and isntead of thinking they're 'sad' i have my own classificatoins for things
they have no names
i don't really consider it a sixth sense, more of just noticing things most people don't notice
most people are easy to read, i can't really explain it all
the world i live in and the way i view things are very different from your average person, i can't explain it
and when i say i hate guys its b/c guys are just assholes
i've had girls comin to me for so long talking about how stupid they're bf's are being and they're right
guys are idiots in general
