Would this terrarium work? *drawing*

I'm picturing a (poor man's) terrarium: A bowl of water with a 2 liter bottle sitting in it with the cake inside. The cake would be elevated so it is at a higher level than the water. The 2 liter bottle would keep the humidity in and all is peachy! Right?
..In case you can't tell, I am NOT an acclaimed artist!

I would say it could work yes but you might want to use fresh distilled water with peroxide in it

The bottle will not float because I will put the cap on after I put the bottle down in the water

And I'm assuming that you're talking about regular old hydrogen peroxide that you can buy anywhere, right?

I asume that your useing PF style cakes. If so, that water line would need to be higher. It also would help to add a large fish tank type air stone for humidity. (or perlite) The way it's drawn I feel the cake would become very dry.

i've used a method similar to yours...i cut a bottle and put it on a plate of wet perlite, you can use vermiculite too, seems a little more simple then your setup

well, now that they have those myco-bags, if you are going to go with a poor mans terr. why not do one of those, proably cheaper, more reliable, and its already been tested. just a suggestion.

Wouldn't the water itself keep it humid in there because it is so small inside? Hardly any volume.. compared to the way v3.2 tek says to build a poor man's terrarium that is a shit load of water...v3.2 says that the moisture of the cake alone will keep it humid.

I'm sure you'll have enough humidity. I managed to fruit a cake that I forgot in a bottle without any humidity. The only pb of your setup is that the water may be easily contaminated. Try not to expose it to the air (if possible). But don't forget to"fan" the cake.

You're talking about contamination that the peroxide won't take care of??
