    #546956 - 02/10/02 07:17 PM (23 years, 2 months ago)

IVe been noticing there has been some slimy , darker spots on the caps, what does this represent? I touch them and they seem like almost rottenish...only on a few though. They dont smell bad, and after they dry they are ok... what causes this?

rH @ 85%, temp @ 80F

It is most likely bacterial blotch. Several other contams can cause decaying spots (trichoderma for example), but most of the time it's bacterial. Oten is caused by spraying the fruits directly. Often is associated with overly high humidity as well, although not in your case. Your temp is a little high, which will favor the bacteria, it's probably not the cause , I just always found that mid 70s kept a lot of contams at bay.

I'd look into air circulation/exchange as the best way to rid yourself of the blotch. As with most other contams, it doesn't like well circulating air.

Professional farmers who have to spray fruits drop the humidity and increase air exchange imediately afterwards to let the fruits dry before restoring proper paramaters.

hope that helps

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
