Terrarium Questions

This is my first time trying mycology. I am now well aware of what I need for creating the substrate. (PF-tek) I understand the Inoculation process. My one problem is I can't quite figure out how to create the terrarium. The dimentions I am working with are 28" width, 24" hight & the depth is 17". So it is a tight squeze. For the method of keeping the temp regulated & humdity up, from reading old posts, I want to use a 2 gallon Duracraft Whisper Mist Cool Mist Humidifier. How do I create the terrarium, and how do I apply the cool mist humidifier for the method of keeping the temp regulated and the humidity high?

use perlite..its cheaper but will provide adequate humidity for your terrarium -Lee (i am a newbie and my terrarium is 33 long 24 wide and 26 tall....perlite works great..my humidity stays at 95%+ all the time)

For a terrarium just get a rubbermaid container of the size that you want. To hook up your humidifer you just duct tape the output and rig it so you put a 1 foot long piece of garden hose going from the humifier to the terrarium. If you want you can seal around the hose with silicone glue to insure a water/air proof seal. You can also use PVC tubing of sorts instead of garden hose (thats what I did)

You need to simplify. All you need is a descent sized storage bin, about 8" high, you can buy at any big supermarket. Use saran wrap for the top and perlite to humidify. Unless you want to go all out. But since you're a beginner, I'd start off low scale.........peace

So I just use a tupperware storage bin, spread perlite on the bottom and when its a cakes birthday place them in and saran-wrap the top.
