HoneyWater Tek and Mycelium cloning question.....
    #546879 - 02/10/02 06:25 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

Wasabi,

Couple of quick questions:

1) I recently innoculated a jar using the HoneyTek and Puerto Rican cub. strain. It's been over 52 hrs and there are no changes....has anyone had real success with this tek?

2)When cloning mycelium into other substrate jars, is it absolutely necessary to put the mycelium slices into H2O2 and then draw them into a syringe? If there were sterile enough conditions, couldn't one potentially just place the slices directly into the substrate?

Thanks in advance!

Never tried the tek but I think I can help you with #2. The only time I'v ever had contam was with when cloning WITHOUT H2O2. If conditions are sterile enough it can be done without H2O2, I was a bit sloppy. Remember H2O2 efficently provides those sterile enough conditions, I personaly would never try cloning again without it.

AH, cool...thanks for the advice. If I do use the H202 can I still place the slices directly into the substrate? I'm trying to avoid having to order syringes =P. Thanks again...
