Is anyone familiar with the game series, "Silent Hill"? Well, it turns out that it's headed to the big screen. To me, the trailer doesn't look too bad at all...I just hope that it turns out better than Resident Evil.
If anyone's interested, here's the trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/silenthill/

The funny thing about movies based upon video games is that they wind up being more gay than Mr. Hands

Yeah, that's why I'm hoping that eventually one will come out that somehow redeems the concept.

I really hope they dont fuck it up too bad, I really liked the game series. I'll see it anyway, but I'm predicting some bad acting and dialogue. The imagery looks good from the commercial, though

The games were great, hope the movie turns out OK.

It's already not even following the storyline.
"A mother searches for her sick daughter in the haunted, deserted town of Silent Hill."
... That's not what happened.

well, I figured they would adjust the story to make it more appealing to those who never even heard of the game, but they could at least maintain some level of quality just for the sake of making a decent movie.
It seems like they purposely make video game to movie adaptations retarded and low quality

It does look cool.
But that's really gay that they changed around the storyline.

It had "The Rock" in it. No movie has ever been good with him in it. The first step in making that movie would have been to fire him, fire half of the people working on it, and hire people who were interested in more than milking cash out of gamers by releasing a horrid film with massive hype.

Well, also for the players of the game, watching a movie based on the EXACT same story would be kinda boring, I think it's good that they changed it up a little bit, but kept the same theme/visuals from the game (from what it appears from the trailer anyway). A port of the game onto the big screen would be kind of lame...

that's a pretty good point, I don't deny the merits of having a slightly altered story. My problem lies mostly with the poor acting and dialogue that are inevitable with a Hollywood adaptation of a video game. The idea of having a Silent Hill movie has so much potential, and from the looks of the trailer, it'll just be another mediocre remake. It's just disappointing.

Oh, I completely agree with you, the bastardization of most video-game movies makes me sad to think there'll never be a proper adaptation of some great video games. I used to think that Final Fantasy 3 would be a great movie if someone made it seriously, or perhaps Half-life, but innevitably, some retard makes a movie like "Alone in the Dark" (another great game bastardized by some idiot (Uwe Ball, creator of such hits as Bloodrayne, I believe)), and it just fucks up the whole genre. I'm really hoping that Silent Hill does well, it looks pretty good from the previews, but I'll wait til it surfaces to cast my final judgement.
