Felix Adler: The unique personality which is the real life in me, I can not gain "unless I search for the real life, the spiritual quality, in others. I am myself spiritually dead unless I reach out to the fine quality dormant in others. For it is only with the god enthroned in the innermost shrine of the other, that the god hidden in me, will consent to appear."
The Ethical Philosophy of Life
-------------------- "People living deeply have no fear of death." "Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love." "Our problems are man-made, therefore they may be solved by man. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings."

For me it pretty much encompasses everything I believe in.

i like it as well. but you can't recognise the light in people until you recognise the light with you. it goes both ways
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Not entirely true, cause there are some circumstance in which you first see a quality in somebody else, and then realise it that you also have it and you just have to develop it.
--------------------
All this time I've loved you And never known your face All this time I've missed you And searched this human race Here is true peace Here my heart knows calm Safe in your soul Bathed in your sighs

What I think he means is that we have to help others bring out their spiritual side and get to know the "real" life that is possible. Doing this will enable you to know yourself much better.

Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love." Sorry, but I have to call esoteric blather on this entire thread.
Sure, its poetic, and sweet, but it is comprised mainly of idealistic similes and metaphors.
Its kind of like a pond, that looks really deep, but you wade out into it and find its only knee high.
