The "Apple" from the Garden of Eden.....

What if the "Apple" Adam & Eve took a bite out of was not an apple at all, and it was perhaps a psychedelic mushroom - thus giving the "knowledge"....

A Christian author by the name of Ray Stedman suggested that the Bibical 'fruit of knowledge' was a mushroom in his book Understanding Man (1978), which I discarded after going through a bad period of my life in which I became 'touched' by Fundamentalist ideology. I also remeber listening to a tape (Larry Norman?) with the lyrics of a song: "No more LSD for me...I met the Man from Galilee..."
Psychedelics have helped to make me into a citizen of which the US government should be proud. I am ethical, moral, pay my taxes on time, have no criminal record because I obey the laws of God and man (even though use of Psychedelics makes me a criminal under current policies). I'm a homeowner and a good neighbor, I give counsel to kids, and I have no vices to speak of. Truth, Compassion and Freedom are my highest values, and these were one-and-all experienced and integrated into my personality via the Psychedelic Experience.
Psychedelics showed me Christ as the paradigm for human development. There...I have witnessed unto the Truth .

That's what happens now, now what happened then. Psycheledics are the "forbidden fruit" of nowadays, not then... whenever it was. And this story with Adam and Eve was invented by religion in order to make people feel guilty. So we can be manipulated more easily.

The mythos of Adam and Eve is a brilliant story about the birth of Consciousness, of self-consciousness, from the 'Great Round' of 'the garden.' Jungian analyst Edward Edinger described this mythos in his book Ego and Archetype, and it is one of the most intelligent analyses I've ever read anywhere. Guilt is but a small part of the psychological drama, and a proper understanding has little to do with manipulation except in the hands of a tyrannical body-politic called the Church.

"knowledge of good and evil" thats what the bible says. when ur born u dont know good or evil. in the highe r/st conscious experience of spirit/light/energy/love/wisdom/etc. (religious examples: hindu void/ samadhi, christ consciousness, basically extatic egoless states, there is nobody, and if there is somebody there is no thought such as "good or bad". as i believe that this "high" state is natural and not unnatural, good/bad comes from ego. apple symbolizes the birth of ego. the only part im shaky on is why an apple. why not a watermelon. but wasnt the bible translated first into greek? did the greeks ahve apples?

There is no mention of an 'apple.' It is the "fruit of the knowledge of good and evil" in English. The "serpent" in Hebrew is "the shining one." Later theologians equated the 'Light Bearer' [Lucifer] with "the shining one," but some Gnostics made the serpent to be a hero in the myth - a symbol of Wisdom, not evil. "Be thou as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves" is another NT saying thay equates serpent with Wisdom. Moses placed the bronze serpent on a staff as a healing symbol. Major metaphysical qualities like Wisdom, evil, healing/regeneration, etc. are identified with the serpent in Biblical writ. The serpent appears in the Gilgamesh Epic of Babylonia, earlier than the Genesis story, and in ancient Hindu lore. It is an important universal symbol [archetype] the valence of which is mutable, not fixed. Only no-fun fundamentalists speak in such black and white terms. Mythos and symbolism is just not like that.

Yesyes, it is twisted. How relates the 'wisdom of good and evil' with the 'usage of wisdom for good and evil'. Without 'wisdom', no 'usage' of it for good nor evil, so far so good. BUT, is wisdom a necessity for doing good or evil ? There is, where wisdom and knowledge divide. There is knowledge without wisdom (like in animals), but there is no wisdom without knowledge ! So I would say, yes, wisdom is not only a necessity of doing good or evil, it is, what makes us responsible for our deeds what makes US good or evil, what introduced THE consciousness to us, which raises our intelligence, attention and intention, the notion of free will, what makes us able to defy 'nature', the notion of G*D.
But one often can 'interpret' the knowledge of, let's say trees, as an ancient wisdom. I am struggeling with that. Is that the wisdom of an only 'good', which reflects a pure direct 'knowledge', as seen as more 'reaction' than 'action' ? Animals behaviour can be seen as pure 'reactions', what would represent knowledge. Is 'action' then more bound to 'wisdom' ? Or am I mixing concepts too strong ? Whatever, I could need more of that fruit

If you're serious, you're probably referring to the "love apples" of Genesis 30:14-16 which refers to Mandrakes [Atropa Mandragora] - the European Mandrake, not the Mayapple. Mandrake contains atropine, hyoscyamine and scoplomine, all of which are psychoactive (as in Datura Stramonium or Jimson Weed).
