I was carfull not to press hard. I lightly patted my caseing down with my hand to make it nice and smooth is that ok? I know I over packed my poo so I was carfull when smoothing my caseing out. Am I not suppose to pack it down at all. this info needs to be in the grow logs.

I do not know how images can help but there they be lol

You should not pack the casing down, nor should you touch it with your hands. The casing needs to be loose, fluffy and airy. RR

I always premoisten my casing mixes and sprinkle on that way it stays even lighter with more air pockets than dryer mixes. I then use a clean fork to even it out, FYI never tamp a casing! You can go back and with a fork (clean) scrape it down to the substrate to loosen it level it out the best you can and mist it down when peroxided (H2O2) water until near saturation that will disinfect it somewhat also and you'll be fine this time around. Ok I took a fork and alcholed it and then re tossed up the casing and spread it around with the fork and smoothened the top of the caseing with it.
