I know people have probably asked this in the past, but I couldn't find anything about it, so here goes...Is there any way possible to get around PCing? I have everything I could ever need, but no PC and need to get another project started ASAP. Can jars be pasturized or sterilized in the oven/microwave? I read a tek about sterilizing substrate in a microwave and wondered if it was applicable to PF jars as well.

You don't need a PC for PF Jars.
Steam sterilization works fine on them.
You need a PC for grains.

yup... pf cakes are the only way to go if you are trying to avoid pc'ing... but they are worth their weight in gold!! if you are serious about this hobby, i'd cough up the cash and get one.. thrift stores, the marketplace, or even ebay.
good luck

Boil jars for 1 1/2 hours. Use a rack or a towel to keep the jars off of the bottom of the pot so they don't crack. Read. Good Luck.

I just picked up an old Presto for $2 the other day at Goodwill . Didn't even have a scratch on it. Thought I could use it for sterilizing syringes, didn't look big enough for much else.

Was I surprised when it fit 7 quarts in it

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input, and for what it's worth, I did use the search engine. I'm also looking for a tek I saw about simmering WBS instead of soaking it, been looking for about 2 1/2 hours not, but to no avail. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Got a link? And no offense intended to anyone, but advice like "use the search engine" isn't really very helpful. It's usually the first thing anyone does, I would think. Asking retarded questions is a last resort, trust me, especially after reading some smart-ass replies such as the afore-mentioned. Anyway, thanks again.

I was just thinking that, and to answer the microwave question, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/4865271#Post4865271
thank agar, it kinda worked for me, but PC WBS fits my life style / needs. Microwave seemed to burn the substrate too easy
