getting ready to pasteurize my straw. Can anyone tell me if it smells up the house real bad. I know its only straw but i don't want to have to explain why my house smells like a barn. Also someone told be of pasteurizing my straw with Lyme. Does this work. It seems that it would be easier. Any opinion from you all about this.
Im doing this in just a little while so a quick response would be greatly appreciated. Everyone has been a great help so far.

Hey man...I wouldn't mess with bleach or lime, as it would affect your overall pH. It may work, but it seems like a pretty sketchy tek. Straw doesn't smell too bad...open a window and it airs out pretty quick. However, if you have touchy roomates, or possibly parents, they will definately be able to smell it.

Any of the bulk teks here involving horticultural lime seem to work. 50/50 works great too by itself, have seen great results as well. If you haven't done a big bulk yet I really would stick with the 50/50. Balancing the casing pH can be a nightmare, especially if you don't buy the right lime. It does help late flushing though, at least from my experiences....
