I have white covering the whole surface of my halfpints, how will i know when theyve made it to the middle? Xray?

Some people wait for pins to appear before birthing cakes. The pins will be larger than a rice grain and will be almond coloured. Birth the cakes gently and growth will continue

Birth your cakes now. If it's not quite done in the middle (doubtful), thats ok. It'll finish off on it's own. The mycellium doesn't stop growing just cuz you birthed it.

Ive read that your cakes should be fully 95-100% colonized when your doing casings. Sorry, didnt incude that detail in my origional thread
