Pressure Cooker question
    #5461851 - 03/30/06 10:02 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Can you use a pressure cooker without a temperature guage? If I can what precautions should I take to make sure I don't overheat my jars?

thanks for any help.

I think that could be very dangerous.

What kind of PC you have.

A temperature gauge? I think maybe you mean a pressure gauge. I have never seen a PC with a temperature guage but that would be really cool. If you use your pressure cooker as recommended I?m sure there is nothing to worry about. I doubt you could get it so hot as to destroy your jars.

yes, one of those, do I need one? I don't mind watching it while its on the stove if it will save me $25, I will probably get a nicer one eventually but I was just wondering if it would work.

I thought I saw something about them on here, but I don't remember what they said regarding using it without the temperature guage.

George,

Agar showed you the picture of a pressure cooker gauge for a reason.

Please note that there are temp settings on the gauge.

5 psi = 228 degrees F.

10 psi = 240 degrees F.

15 psi = 250 degrees F.
