Central Texas questions

So I'm currently on 700 acres of ranch land in central Texas, I know I'm a little early, althought this weekend has what it takes, but i looked all last year and no cubes. Plenty of cattle the conditions were right. I guess my question is can you have large tracts of land with all the requirements and no cubes. Yes the the guy who leases the surface rights for his cows does feed salt blocks and sulfer blocks to the cows, but my research shows this doesn't affect shrooms, and I do find an incredible variety including chantrelles. But I'm still after morels and cubes. Nothing I have found on the straw feeding areas or in the fields stains blue, and definitly no cubes. If someone wants to give it a crack that's in my area I'd like the company, especially if you can id some ????able shrooms...

yes, its possible to have seemingly perfect conditions and never see a cube in the field.
chances are, since you call a plot of land a "ranch", your probably west of dallas. the climate is too dry for optimum growth. i'd look after rains, but dont get your hopes up.
good luck

Actually very close to the Capital. I received about 3 inches of rain last week but the ground and wind are soaking it up quick. High humidity though. If I have free time in the evenings is it worth a drive through the property, or do most erupt in the mornings? I've made a habit of looking in the afternoons, I wonder if that's a problem. The armadillos are eating most every shroom I've seen.....Thanks.

the Shrooms grow all day and all night, so the time of day does not matter.
start looking for the Cubensis and Copelandia mushrooms in late-May/early-June.
i have heard that salt blocks deter the Shrooms from growing, but i do not believe that.
700 acres of land that you have permission to be on, -man that is a paradise! consider it a blessing.
