I have heard some people say that they haven't lacrimated in years. Is this at all healthy?

I hadnt cried in years, because I was simply never down. On acid I cried, it was the first time I had been down in a while. It was only for a brief duration, and I sorted a lot out. I feel great again.
No crying for me really. Very very rarely, once a year maybe.

I don't think I've joyously cried... well maybe never. I'd really like to tho. I only have experience crying from a feeling of loss.

I haven't cried in years even though I have really bad depression and I feel like crying at times I can't. I once tried to force myself to cry to see if I would feel better afterwards but I couldn't.

In last times I catch me crying about beauty. Beautiful songs will make me cry (for example:The Dandy Warhols with 'The Last High'; or Yello with 'To the Sea', I love it), or TV-documentations about the beauty of nature often push the tears into my eyes.

Last time that I cried like a baby was on a shroom trip about 6 months ago, it was a roller coaster trip, I went from laughing to crying every 5 minutes while listening to Pink Floyd's Echoes (best of). I had so much emotion that had been building up inside of me that I just had to let it all out, I had to let go of everything, and it felt so good afterwards, I felt calm and relieved.
I think it can definitely be healthy to cry once in a while, instead of keeping it all inside.
I also get a few tears when I watch some emotionally intense movies, last ones were Mar Adrento and Collision. I've learned to stop refraining myself from expressing my emotions, there's really no shame in crying!

If your refering to anytime tears well up in my eyes......weekly.
Most of my tears are tears of joy/happyness.
From music or movies to random joyfull things in my life, seeing my grandson or watching my puppy play.
Sometimes the joy/happyness can be almost overwhelming. It feels like my chest wants to explode, like a volcano about to erupt inside me.
I hardly ever cry out of sadness or depression anymore.

Me too. It's quite liberating. Growing up a man and being taught not to cry is unhealthy. It is also a hard thing to un-learn......but well worth it IMO

For the past few months I cry almost every day, not always cuz of sadness but out of joy as well, and beauty. When I do cry out of sadness it's usually not about me.

I cry almost every time I do mushrooms because I'm being overwhelmed by what's happening out there. But I still cry when I'm feeling overemotional and then feel way better and in peace. Crying has great therapeutic properties if done right, meaning not the superficial kind of cry, I could never get it, but the sincere and from deep inside one. No matter the reasons, cause they can vary from huge to goofy.

Seriously, last time I shed tears was when I unintentionally rubbed some sort of chemical into my eye.
But the last time I really cried was when President Reagan died oddly enough. I don't know- it just seemed like my country hit its high-water mark..it's all downhill from here with the Bush crew (no nobility) and that made me sad like losing a grandparent. No one close to me has ever died so I guess I was prepping myself in a way.
Crying and knitting can be very cleansing.

I cry on only a few select occasions. Mostly deaths of friends and a few other events. Each time I have cried it has realy cleansed me and renewed a sense of passion. It kind of gets rid of all the garbage clotting up my life and makes me think of what really matters.

I cry when I need to, the last time was when I went to watch King Kong...you could see the love...unconditional love from Kong towards the woman...his struggles, fears, & hence my tears. It was really quite an emotional movie.
Anyway.......
Peace & Love,
Q.
-------------------- Bill Hicks speaks of his experience on shrooms :- I realised our true nature is spirit not body, that we are eternal beings and God?s love is unconditional and there is nothing we can ever do to change that; it is only our illusion that we are separate from God or that we are alone. In fact the reality is that we are one with God & he loves us. Now if that isn?t a hazard to this country? you see my point. How are we gonna keep building nuclear weapons, what?s gonna happen to the arms industry when we know we?re all one? ..You can see why the government?s cracking down on the idea of experiencing unconditional love.

I also cry once a week or so. It is healthy I dont think I cried from the time i was a little boy till a year or two ago. I rember compound fracturing my wrist in football and not even crying out. Since I stopped trying to act like the alpha male all the time I am at peace alot more. A real man isnt afriad to cry.

Probably not healthy but from 6th grade when my next door neighbor moved until now (senior year in high school), I think i have cried once or twice. Once was when a girl broke up with me while I was on mushrooms...that was awkward... And then when I got caught for drugs and my parents flipped, my eyes watered alot. But its weird, its like I can't cry. I have even pushed and tried to at one point but it doesn't work. I have heard a bit about therapeutic crying, and that Adam from Tool practices this. Is there a certain way to "let go" and allow the tears to flow out? Would probably feel pretty good.

I have a good cleansing cry every couple of months..it purges everything I've been holding in. But an all out bawl is another story...that's only happened a coupla times in my life.

I think the times are definitely changing in regard to manliness. Homosexuality is being more widely accepted; heterosexual guys can cry without ridicule. Most people understand IMO.
I have to agree with the poster who said they feel like their heart is going to explode sometimes from crying out of joy. Ricky Fitts in "American Beauty" lays it out pretty well: "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."
This happens a decent amount. I rarely cry from sadness. Normally my sadness cries feel like they're just built up sad cries, so it doesn't even realy feel like a sad cry but just a process to feel better and even things out; balance.
My best friend is in Iraq right now. I almost cried earlier today thinking of him. It really made me sad becuase he is so peaceful and he's over there fighting.
Some movies really choke me up, esp if they relate to my life. Movies that depict realy happy and loving people tend to get the tears flowing. Inspirational things, like another poster said. I bought a copy of "Shambhala Sun," which is a buddhist magazine, and I read an article about compassion earlier today and nearly cried reading they're prayer they suggested. Come to think of it many acts of compassion make me cry out of joy.

I know what this means. I usually cry when THAT hits me in the face while tripping. Sometimes though, while I'm driving, the same force would comes back and almost squeezes out a tear.

The remembrance of God will always well up the Heart Center. The chest becomes the focal point of energy while the eyes begin to tear up. Humanity is truly a catalyst to this remembrance. The closer in sameness I become with the rest of man, the closer to God I get. It is an ecstasy of infinite plummet into God's love, and one's love for humanity. I try to adore people from God's point of view.
Peace
