Does Mycelium Need to Colonize Fully
    #5456460 - 03/29/06 06:57 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Hey Everyone, The First 5 Jars that got colonized i just birthed them when they were just colonized on the outside..Then i see a post of someone saying waiting about 4 or 5 days after its colonized on the outside and you will fruit faster...

Is this true cause it took prob 14 days to begin pinning...now its growing fast on the first caked i birthed...So what is a good time period to let them colonize after they are fully colonized on the outside? Thanks Everyone

This allows the core to colonize as well, once total colonization is reached there is a survival trigger that also triggers pinning. This little recognized trigger when used in conjunction with ALL the other pinning triggers gives you your best pin count. Remember pin count has also alot to do with a substrains pinning capabilities.

If it's fully colonized on the outside you can birth it. If I were doing cakes, I personally wouldn't birth it until I saw pins growing. There are alot of different opinions about when the right time to birth a cake is, but as long as it's fully colonized on the outside and is kept in a properly humidified enviornment it will produce fruits. Dunking is always a good idea IME. Cakes lose water pretty fast and a good dunk never hurts.
