Hell-o
Im using mycobags with grain in them and just wanted to know when should you break up the myc. ive heard either 35-40% and iver heard 75% which is it...or is it both 35 then 75??? Also Im going to start jars soon and was wondering how to break up myc in jars since you cant really squish the jars like you can bags? Thanks for your help!

25% or so is a good place. I only shake once during the cycle. If you mix it around very well when 25% colonized, the bag or jar will finish within about a week. RR

Shake 'em!
regarding your water content question, once the grain is hydrated you won't need to water it again. The only way it will get dehydrated too quickly is if you try to warm them on a heating blanket. I think that's what you were asking about...

I agree also mixing throughly after inoculation whether spores solution or G2G is also very important. I will also kneed the bags between 50% and 75% this not only hastens colonization but also keeps the the hyphae network a little looser which is especially helpful when using jars.

Awsome Thanks Alot
I broke them up around 6 tonight and i cant wait to see what happens to them. I had the whole front of my bag was covered and I broke it all up real good and mixed it in so that most of it was in the center so I wouldnt have to worry about it not colonizing in the center. Ill keep updates to what happens next. Maybe it will help another newbie out someday!

Ok,
so its been about 2 weeks since I shook and squished them and they are doing good but there pretty slow. its been already like 4 or 5 weeks and there still not fully colonized. My next question is, can I break them up again to make it finish faster or is there nothing I can do. If it will hurt the myc. to break it up again then I wont and Ill just wait. I just thought if I broke it up again then it would finish faster. Thanks for the help
