so ive ordered everything i need...pressure cooker, spores...bought all my supplies...very exciting...
now i need a few basic newb questions answered...
my grow is WBS to horse poo from tennessee stud and cased(probably with the 50/50+ tek, but im VERY open to casing suggestions as im clueless in this department)
first of all, when preparing the WBS jars, should they be air tight when PC'ing? and should they be air tight while innoculating or do i need CO2 to be able to escape...this is where i find it hard to know from the few WBS teks.. also, is polyfill over the inoculation holes necessary if i have a tyvek filter(i have polyfil, but i dont wanna use it on the jars unless i have to)
thank you.
*edit* i should mention that my jars are quart sized, and my pressure cooker is a 23 quart presto pressure canner.($80 shipped from amazon.com)

i would use the ploly fill for sure. the tyvek is a must. i keep my jars tight until im ready to birth, in which case i take the lids completely off and cakes out of the jars. if you have rubber cement or silicone put that over the holes and then tape over the glue. i know this sounds like a bit much but believe me. i have a PC and cooked a few cakes for the first time, 3 of 6 of my jars got contaminated due to a poor job of making a tight and secure seal. i saved one of the cakes but that?s only cause it was like 90% colonized when it got contaminated. the others had equal amounts of comtam., and mycelium. the jar that was almost colonized got contaminated because they way i taped over the holes. i taped from the lid to the screw. the screw is a little higher then the lid which left a almost un-noticeable opening to the hole. the opening was much smaller then a half of a dime. yes, belive it or not i got contams. so i recommend using anyway possible. as for the glues, haven?t tried it before but it sounds like a really good idea, i dont know if your suppose to glue before or after the PCing. if it is before there is whats called hi-temp silicone glue. they use that on engines so it should be able to handle the heat in the PC, i guess?., good luck with your grow!
