Copelandia Cyanescens Mycelium???
    #5449971 -

It has been 10 days since I injected 2cc's of spore solution in my rye mycobags,I'm trying to figure out if it's time to mix them with the compost or not? They look chalky like they have all been dipped in powdered sugar, all of the rye seeds in the bag look covered but its spotted nothing like cubensis mycelium.Could anyone give me advice or point me to some pics??? Thanks alot

That actually sounds like a mold. Cope mycelium will look similar to cube with the exception it's a bit fuzzier and perhaps just a bit towards grey instead of snow white.

Yeah, that's almost certainly mold. I'm growing copes now and the mycellium on wbs is virtually identical to cubes. If anything, it's stronger and definitely colonises fast. If you have white stuff on all the grains, you can bet your life it's not myc, that will initially show itself in a few areas only (ie, where you stuck the needle!).

Just for clarification cyan myc is NOT as healthy or as strong as cube myc is. It has a wispy look to it, almost like cobweb mold.

I agree tho, sounds like you might have a case of green mold coming up.

Wanna bet???

haha, maybe it's just me, but that certainly looks as thick and healthy as any cube myc i've ever seen. It moves very very fast as well considering it's not at all rhizomorphic.
This is all from 1/4 of a Pan vietnam print I received a while back, direct multispore injection into wbs.

Freeze them maybe?Maybe I should just chuck everything and start over this truly sucks.I thought something was bad last time I grew the goliath strain and it looked just like cubensis, not shure what went wrong but looks like I should stick with cubensis until I get better. Thanks again people

I just re-read the title of this thread and it seems that you're growing Copelandia's, not Panaeolus. In this case, they're wood loving species which do indeed present wispier mycellium.
The pictures I posted were from spawn bags of Pan. Cyan's (viet) on wbs.

Even if it is Cope, it can still be spawned with grains. I've had this same thing happen before, with Cubes, using the same process as always. I bet they already stink and in a few days they'll probably turn green. Don't give up though. Try making an LC so you don't run out of spores.

:sigh: Copelandia and Panaelous ARE THE SAME THING.

Pan cyans have wispy myc, take a fully colonized cube jar and put it next to a fully colonized pan jar. Cube jars are a SOLID block of white, you see little (if any) grain. Look at your pics its white in some SPOTS, but not all over. Cyan myc is nowhere near as strong as cube myc is.

FULLY COLONIZED pan jars, still think its as healthy as cube myc?

You are of course correct, I knew that hence the original post. I think something happened to my brain this afternoon.
That said, I'm not disputing your jars are wispy, but I can only go on the evidence I have, which is that the Pans i'm growing produces very strong, thick white mycellium. Of course this may be dependant on many factors. As I said earlier, the two bags in my picture were from a multi-spore innoc, which did show very wispy myc to begin with, but it rapidly became thick and strong.
