This year I'll be playing Johnny Cannabis Seed.
My experiment is to see if cannabis will germinate in the north eastern wild. Minimal preperations were made in each of about 4-5 seperate plots. All I did was bring out a small hand held hoe, and hacked away at the ground. Then added a handful of soil and threw a couple seeds in there.
Normally I would dig a 3' by 3' hole in the ground and fill it with 40 lbs of soil. Those plants can get seriously huge. And obvious. I'm going for stealth this year, heh.
I'm not really hoping for much yield if at all. But It will be very interesting to see if they actually grow. I'm going to be away for most of the summer, but I will be able to cull the males. Although I may leave one. If it does work out I'll certainly give them flowering suppliments. And seaweed.
It would be awesome to intoduce cannabis to the local terrain. If seeds could fall and sprout next year. Thats my goal, because I want to breed a potent outdoor strain. I've witnessed first hand that marijuana can live here without me watering it, in the dead of dry summer.
Any thoughts on this subject? I couldn't really find any information on it.
Has anyone germinated seeds outdoors?

chances are they will not get enough rootspace, depends very on the area you grow. Also competition with other plants may kill them, my guess is that this will not work out too good.

good luck, sounds like fun. If you could just get them started inside, then transplant, I think they will have a better chance for the first season. Then maybe after that, you would start having some volunteer plants.

sounds pretty awesome. I love the idea of strains of plants that are developed to be adapted to a particular climate to the point where they are pretty much self-sustaining. Hope this ends on a good note for ya!

Yea this is possible man but I'd grow a few patches, and only keep a male in one then collect seeds and plant again next year spread them out, so the male pollen won't reach the female areas. Return as often as possible with a appropriate nutrient solution(even once a month would help). Do you know what strain your seeds are? Get a starin that is closest suited to your area. Hollands Hope is a good one.
Good Luck dude.
Everyone should do this, then it will make it harder and harder for the law makers to justify their laws.
I am planting some in clearings of local forests.

More weed growing outdoors. I think that that will be awesome. If it really starts coming up, two possible results come to mind: The ideal result is that people start to see how marijuana is never going to be eradicated, and they realise that the government is spending more money than ever trying to get rid of a plant growing wildly. The result which I fear is that much more money will be spent on destroying wild weed patches, and marijuana laws become more strictly enforced and penalties become worse. I'm down to be part of the outdoor movement, though. We need strains adapted to each region, that would be awesome. Coastal regions, colder areas.....I don't know, but this is an experiment worth checking out, you know?
