Ideal setup conditions?
    #5454879 - 03/29/06 11:43 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I just finished cooking several cakes (BRF, verm) and will be waiting a couple days to make sure that I did a good job sterilizing. (hopefully no mold)
They are in Kerr jars with masking tape over the holes and a layer of foil over the top. I just took them out of the pot this morning, and tightened the lids and moved them to my TiT.
What are the ideal conditions to store the jars at for a couple days until I inoculate? (temp, humidity, lit tightness, etc)

Once they're about 30% colonised take the masking tape off, and replace it with micropore tape (aka breathable, surgical microporous).

Your jars have to allow the mycelium to undergo gas exchange, if you want fast, healthy growth, that is...

I remember someone who used to take all the tape off and tip his/her jars upside down, because C02 is denser than air, so oxygen would be absorbed while CO2 released.

Make sure your incubator is as sterile as possible too  and yes 85 is fine, humidity matters not as mentioned above, and that they are in complete darkness for the incubation period
