(I posted this in the pub because of traffic but thought since its of 'political' nature it should be here also... hopefully mods dont take this as 'spam')
This is a question for all you people out there... After watching the movie V for Vendetta (if you havent seen it, go...NOW) I wondered... What if someone actually brought anarchy to all of us? Well for the sake of the argument, lets not say total anarchy but more like freedom.
What if a freedom fighter like no other arose and fought for the people using terrorist tactics (be aware that this exactly what V did, so by terrorist, erase all negative connotation) to overthrow this oppresive system that only gets worse each day? Would you side with him? Support him? Or be against him?
His/her motive wouldnt be to then become 'president'/dictator and take over the country... his motive would be pure and simple... to bring true freedom to the people who live in this land and to let them shape the country as they, THE people see it right... as a TRUE democracy
Discuss.

- Define freedom
- Explain the means that would be used to obtain the end

By freedom I mean, living by the constitution that we have so severely adultered through history...
Or living without the constitution but by a set of moral codes every human should follow... A consciense
I know it sounds impossible, but thats because we are so used to this governement. Weve become complacent... And we only feel 'pressured' by it when it attacks us personally.

As long as it was to form a government that allowed the citizens to do as they wished without harming others, I'd be on the wagon.

One person destroying the system and then declaring himself dictator doesn't sound like democracy, freedom or anarchy to me.
I'd be a lot more excited if all the people got off their asses to affect some kind of change instead of waiting around for some hero to do it for them. Power to the people.

V did not bring about anarchy. He brought about chaos, and it was his hope that through this chaos anarchy would be realized.
If you check out the graphic novel, this idea is expanded upon. The key notion for V behind anarchy was "respect"; it is only through respect that anarchy is possible. Anarchy via humanism, if you will.

I like the movies of the 50's and 60's where people of the earth have to battle the space aliens or be enslaved or destroyed and then we win and are free to do battle another day.
