General drying questions (good newbie thread please post)

Hi guys! I've been reading the FAQ's general drying advice (I'm not accustomed to any drying techniques for psilocybes other than experience with semilanceata -and a.muscaria- for which the solutions are easy and obvious). However I'd like to dry cubes and cyanescens so can I "make do" with domestic fan heater to desiccant chamber? The FAQ states "a computer" fan this presumably emits no heat!!! So if I used a small domestic fan heater with the thermostat right down would I be o.k? Also it states "end on" for drying position, might a humble postulant inquire which end? If I dried the shrooms for 24-48 hours with the fan heater how long would I need to desiccate them for? All help and tips will be greatly appreciated.

Some of those ideas 'can work'
But why chance running a good harvest.
My opinion is there is only one way to dry them and it's only $40 that will last years...........

whoa, 400 degrees thats insanely high. Psilocybin breaks down at 109 F. So I wouldn't recommend that. A dehydrator that goes up to only 90 F is optimal. Otherwise you can put them in the oven on the lowest setting and crack open the oven door. Your other option is to make a desiccant chamber with a fan in it.

Any fan with heat will do the job, a plain fan will do the job too, but a computer fan probably wouldn't push enough air to dry them quickly. However you dry them, I recommend storeing them in an airtight container with a silica gel packet. I bought 10lbs of kitty litter (the clear kind with blue flecks). After the shrooms are mostly dry, I put a small scoop of silica in a coffee filter, use a rubber band to tie it, and put that in a mason jar with the shrooms.

find whomever told you this and tell them they're wrong, then smack them for being wrong. Psilocybin breaks down at 400 degrees F

That's a dehydrator right? I'll have to check U.K/European availability, which make is that? Oh, and "end on"? Which end please?
