recycling mycelium?
    #5451074 - 03/28/06 12:11 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

after my cases are done fruiting, rather than throwing them out, can i take a few large chunks of the used up mycelium to spawn a new 50/50 casing?? If I can do this, I can have shrooms growing biweekly and do not have to worry about innoculating jars and what not

Yes but you can only do this 3-4 times before your fruits start looking like mutants. Spores are the 1st generation, spawning to a casing is second, so you could go another 2 times if you'd like. Keep in mind LC's and g2g count as a generation too.

Personal preference. I would rather start over with spores from the biggest fruit in a cluster and hope those traits carry over :bongload:

no, you have to spawn it to something so that it has nutrients in order for it to keep growing.

prepair a new substrate, crumble your casing and mix with the new substrate, incubate, and fruit again. is basicly how it works. it can be done but as mentioned you will get genetic decay eventualy, just take spore print off the first run and save it for once your casing is expended.
