i guess i enjoy a mix.
there are very few people from south india (karala, tamil nadu, karnataka) who have moved to the west and started restaurants. most restaurants were started by north indians (or bangladeshis/pakis). while the food is generally good, there are some big difference between it and south indian food. every once in a while, though, you'll find a restaurant with fresh masala dosa though

Vindaloo or Masalas are good dishes, just depends on whether you want chicken, lamb or some vegetable variation.
