Can poly bags be used in a PC?
    #5450230 - 03/28/06 07:56 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Hey guys, just wondering if a poly bag can be pressure cooked without melting. I know they're fine for pasteurization, but I'm picturing the mess I'd have to clean up if one of them melted inside my nice All American and figured I'd ask first. Thanks.

Thanks for replying, glad I didn't try it.

The reason I asked is because I'm having a contam problem with wet spot. I need something that will keep the polyfill filters dry. Aluminum foil doesn't cut it, the moisture gets through, even with an elastic band securing the foil to the jar. I was thinking of putting a poly bag over the top of each jar and securing it with a few elastics. Any ideas?

are you doing bags now and getting wet spots??? with bags comes wet spots you just have to rotate them around gentley to make other parts absorb that moisture IME.

With jars i wait a day or so to inoculate them. in the mean time i shake them twice a day to make sure all the moisture is balanced. and NO wet spots on the sides of the jar at all. haven't had a problem since.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to a moisture distribution problem, I was talking about wet spot, the condition caused by bacillus contamination.
