Flourescent fixture in incubator?

I was wondering if there would be any problems with putting a fluorescent fixture inside the fruiting chamber, due to the high humidity?

oops sorry FC, I just tried this they radiate heat i had cakes that turned into big fluff balls of mycelium and didnt pin they where in there for 2 1/2 weeks this was the smallest fixture i could find it was an 8 in 4 watt and it still made it 82 degrees inside.

Thanks for the advice...A 4 watt bulb actually made 82 inside the chamber? Wow! Was it flourescent?

yes it was an 8in tube, all light radiates heat and with low air circulation the heat stays in the chamber.

I had a 24 inch florescent light inside my Martha style fruiting chamber. It didn't cause any problem.
But your right to worry about humidity and electronics. High humidity leads to electrical leakage and increased current. Increased current leads to overheating... Yet, I still didn't have a problem.

Theres Really no point to having a light on your FC at all. Sunlight works just fine. But if your really want too id get some Blue LED's. Almost no heat at all and you only need like 6 of them. check ebay.

I use a flouro bulb in my FC and it does get rather hot sometimes. I just leave the door to that cabinet open so the warm air can flow out and it's fine.
yeah, you don't want to expose electronics to humidity...

I agree with the led's they are great, the reason i see the tube working inside of a Martha is there is a coolmist and somtimes an ultrasonic or 2 coolmists running so there is a high level of air circulation, with a tub style chamber there is hardly any air flow and the heat radiates through the chamber...
