Poppies and rain
    #5447563 - 03/27/06 01:27 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Hey folks

I remember reading somewhere that rain in the pod stage, after the petals fall, will make our friends worthless.
I'm not sure where though, and i can no longer find that info.

Is this true at all?

For some reason about half my plants decided to bloom early this year, and there is still a lot of rain to come before summer.
I'm wondering if i should worry and pick them before they're ripe so they don't get any rain, or just let nature do its thing...

Pics soon to come. But in the meanwhile, and since we're speaking poppies take a look at this junky bee getting her fix out of a corn-poppy

I never water after the pod stage... always thought it was the golden rule. I also stop fertilizing 2 weeks before pods... anyway, I also have a junkie bee pic  :sun:

My main problem with rain is getting seedlings knocked over and killed by it.

I've seriously had to replant a few times. Only three of my original plants have made it so far :frown:
