i put some perlite in about 24 hours ago and within 2 hours the hygro read 99%. it stayed at 99% all night and the next morning when i checked it was still 99%. well about 15 min ago i checked and it said 85%, now it says 76%...what is causing my humidity to drop so rapidly? my FC is getting hit by direct sunlight through my window and the thermo/hygro is reading 91* inside FC...could this be the problem? to hot?.....its down to 73% now PLEASE HELP

The heat should cause the water to evaporate and cause the humidity to rise, how deep is the pearlite layer and how deep is the h202 and water in it? Also is there anywhere that air can escape? Do you have a tight fitting lid?

yes i have an airtight rubbermaid FC, there is 2 inches of perlite in there...i did not understand how to measure "1 inch of water" b/c when you poor the water in it gets all mixed up. i took all the perlite and put it in a strainer and got it all soaked very well then let all the extra water strain out of it then put it in FC (an experienced member told me this was a much better way to do it). it was working fine all yesterday and last night up until about 1 hour ago it started to drop for some unknown reason

I have never had good luck with just damp perlite, to measure 1 in of water make a hole where you can see the bottom of the tub and pour in water when you see an inch of standing water then fill in the hole and your set, IMO with just damp pearlite its a constant job keeping it damp, with the standing water I just stick my CLEAN finger in it to see how much water is left just remember to use plenty of h202...

cooler temps = better humidity
If your fruiting you want a temp of 70-75F. 91F is way to much!!! Lower your temps soon.
