Hi guys, I know I'm asking a lot lately, hopefully i'll able to give some help back to newbies when i'll be ready in the meanwhile, i have another question for you guys, about the best casing material. I actually use standard soil to do my casing. Is there anything better that that? I find the soil to be good as far as i can say (it always worked), but I begun questioning my method when i started to think i could get more from my casings... Thanks

You guys use a lot of acronyms... this makes it hard for me to understand what's what... plus, i'm not a native english speaker... Anyway, is soil a bad casing material? I use that ususally... The document you linked is very interesting but i have problems when the author writes about 50/50+... what's that? Thx

50/50 is just stating the amount of materials use. That means 50% this and 50% that. That all that means. Soil is not a good thing to use for casings because it has nutrients in it. So I would definitely change to another casing type.
In the Growing Mushrooms tab go to the advanced techniques and then to casings. THere you'll find just about every casing that is worth a try.
HOpe this helps
~Peace Out
P.S. For not being native to english you use it pretty well

50/50+ is a peat based casing mix, 50% peat to 50% vermiculite with a buffer added usually calcium carbonate, oyster shell flour or powerized egg shell as the long term buffer and a very small amount of hydrated lime (short term buffer) to immediately raise the pH to acceptable levels as peat is very acidic. Also very important you never want any material with more than 3% magnesium which will inhibit mycelium growth. GL and Welcome!
-------------------- Getting the most out of your casings!, A pinning strategy. Oyster Shell "Flour" $2 for 1lb. a hell of a deal Not what is overlay but rather what overlay is Gas Exchange vs. FAE "We all have priorities. I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"
