Starting a few days ago I've been having chest pains. It's hard to describe but it's like right in the center of my chest, between my nipples. Right now I don't have a job, health insurance or anything. Anyone know how I could get checked out for free or cheap? This has me pretty worried. I haven't even been in for a checkup since I was pretty young.

Here is my reply to both of you guys -
Your health is far more important that the bill that you get for whatever services they may have to perform to make you healthy. Whether you can afford it or not, go see a Doctor and worry about the financial end of it later.
You can apply and maybe qualify for free care with your state, based on your earnings.
Or, if you don't qualify for free care, GO ANYWAYS. You don't want to mess around with your body, it's the only one you get, so take care of it. If you get billed for it and can't pay it, don't. Yes, it might end up on your credit report, but would you rather have a bad credit rating or wind up dead? Also, a tidbit of information - say you go to apply for a mortgage and you have a bucnh of medical collections on your credit report. Mortgage companies are no longer allowed to make you pay these collections off as a condition for financing, it's against the law.
Good luck, and BE WELL

That's not very smart. Bleeding ulcers only get worse, and each day you let it go by you make it harder on yourself. Apply for free care, or go get it taken care of - don't put it off man.

That's my problem. I haven't been to a doctor since I was a kid. How do I do the stuff to get free help. Do I just go to a normal doctor and they'll help me out?

I don't know how it is where you're at, but here it's simple. You go to the emergency room and "sign-in" or whatever. Then the receptionist will ask for your insurance, you tell them you have none, and they give you a form to fill out. If they don't offer you a form, ask what options there are. In most cases this alleviates all costs but the doctor's(they want to get paid).
You could probably Google up some information that is specific to your state.

Pretty much, man. Basically, they will all bill you and give you a form to fill out to try to get free state health care. If you don't qualify, you'll have bills to pay off. You can, literally, send them 10 dollars a month if that's all you can afford. Medical collections are very lenient, as long as you show that you're not ignoring them completely.

And one other, very important, thing...KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT!
There is no industry more scandalous than the medical industry. They will almost certainly try to double and triple bill you. Every time you make a payment, keep a copy of the check, money order, receipt, everything involved.
KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT KEEP RECORDS OF PAYMENT

Yeah, visits to the ER start at $106.00 and go up. I'm not sure if it's pain from smoking, eating fatty shit (I'm skinny as fuck) so I dunno, or if I think about it, working out. I started having pains the day we got the weight bench set back up. That same night, drank a bit, smoked a bit (too much) and almost got sick. The day after my chest was sore, been sore since.

I've tried calling a few physicians and all have told me to go to the hospital. How do I get state or federal medical aid? I think it might just be bruising from using the weight bench, but I don't wanna take any chances.

Just an update, I went to a free clinic and had a doctor check me out. It was just a torn muscle or bruising from the whole working out while drunk thing, so lesson learned there for me. Felt like I was dying for a few days there, feel great now.
