Can Mycellium Survive The Winter?

Hey, I had an outdoor cubies patch last year, I'm wondering if it's possible that it survived the winter. If it's relevant there was some mycellium under the ground, substrate was cow poo mixed with verm, strain was Amazon. Thanks.

substrate and strain won't matter much...
If the ground freezes over the winter in your area, I'm sure it won't survive.
If the ground doesn't freeze, there's probably a chance for it.
I don't know much about outdoor growing, just logical.

I say they very well could grow, but there are a lot of factors involve.
I would not discount it yet,
You could even make a little dig and see if there is any mycelium.

ive read of some mircaulous stories involving mycellium surviving the winter, remaining stagnant as if you placed your fully colonized jars in the fridge to show growth, and as soon as u throw in the FC(summer) they blossom...so its possible and ive heard of it happening...i wuoldnt rule them out just because the ground froze.

Sick! I'm in Toronto, Ontario, BTW, forgot to mention that. Maybe I should head out to the spot and do a dig? Or should I wait until conditions are more suited to growing? All the snows gone here, spring started a few days ago.

In Toronto, the ground freezes in the winter. That will kill whatever was left 6 months ago when the growing stopped.

The mycellium can usally survive the winter. I know every year I go back to the same spot and find morels. I live in northern michigan and it gets super cold here in winter. So theres a chance they may survive.

I dont really know about that , It does seem however that if you left one shroom behind and didnt pick it its spores would have been released and they would survive the frozen condition of winter after all thats how it reproduces in nature and it does grow in many many areas that have cold winters

think about it, Toronto or Michigan, the ground is frozen a significant amount of the year.
spores would survive the freeze, mycellium doesn't have a chance

The mycelium from morels survives the freeze because they never freeze. From what I understand, the morel is one of the larges living organisms on this planet. Where you find mushrooms, and where the mycelium is has little to do with each other. I would say a good way to test this out with cubes would be to stick a fully colonized jar in the freezer for abouta week, and then try to fruit it. Or you could just wait and see what happens with your poo pile. If anyone knows anything to the contrary about the morels, please lemme know. I'd love to grow some of them fuckers!

Morels are almost impossible to grow artificially, believe me I read ALOT about it. Those suckers are worth as much as pot! The MYC problem does die off in winter. The funny thing is have any of you ever heard of the "Humongous Fungus" I live like 20 minutes from there.Anyway, that thing survies winters. Its like 40 acres of underground fungus, supposedly is the oldest and largest living organism in the world. Heres a link if you want to check it out http://www.crystalfalls.org/humongou.htm They have a fest every year and I go, a bunch of yoopers getting hammered lol
