Innoculating jars outdoors to avoid contamination

I have had repeated problems with contams latly. I am working on a glovebox to solve this problem but I am making some popcorn jars tonight and I was wondering if I took the jars outdoors and inoculated them there (i am 99% sure my contams happens during inoculation) and then put them in my "incubator" which I can carry inside afters. Outdoors is snow, -6C and a slight breeze so I figured there wouldnt be much contams out there. Maybe also let the jars cool down after pressure cooking outdoors. Any thoughts on this?

I would not suggest doing that. I would try to find out where the problems are.

I dont think that would be a half bad idea. Its winter here too and I mixed up my last batch of substrate outside. My guess is that the snow would: 1.Cover up anything that might release spores outside and 2.The white snow refects the UV, killing any spores/bacteria that may be around. Just remember to do it in a stealthy spot so as no one will spot you! Peace

Your working on a GB that will solve your problem keep it simple (still air) and with no fans they completely the go against how GB's function.

The sudden coldness from outside hitting your hot jars might make the jars crack..but letting them cool down and doing inoculations outside would be not a bad Idea

Besides what everyone else has stated, have you considered security? I don't know about you, but the last place I would ever inoculate my jars is in the view of the public. You start busting out syringes and people take interest.

I dont live where it snows but I have put thought into using spawn jars to inoculate bails of straw then let them colonize outside, once colonized move it inside and fruit... Oh yeah its spring where i live and about 80 degrees during the day and 65-70 at night....

I dunno how much of an issue security even is. I mean sure syringes look a bit sketch, but they arn't gonna think your shooting up out there if your working with jars as well. And at the same time, I doubt anybody who doesn't know about growing shrooms knows that spores are delivered in syringes and are used to inoculate the jars.
If anyone were ever to ask just say your doing a scinetific experiment about growing mold. Then afterwards you can be like "Look! My jars are all white and full of mold now, victory is mine!"

If you're using a glove box, going outdoors isn't going to help. Something else is wrong here. What was your procedure before? Is your GB sealed properly? Do you clean it thoroughly? How long did you sterilize the jars? Did you let them cool before removing them from the PC? Where did you get the spores?
Edit: I misread that. I see you are working on a glove box. Either way, I don't see being indoors as being the problem. I've inoculated jars in a dusty closet before with no problems. There must be another problem.

well , i did inoculate all the jars outdoors and i have only had one jar contamned but this time ti was green mold and not black mold wich has usually been the problem so i dont know. i pressure cook the popcorn on 15psi for 1-1.5 hours. but the spores i used this time came from a diffrent place, i got it from agar (a user here, very nice guy sent me two prints) but the prints i have used previously i have gotten from other various sources, i was thinking the problem could be where i have stored the prints maybe. i dont know. anyways my glovebox is finished and im gonna start a new round soon.
as for security im not in usa so im not too worried about innoculating jars outdoors. besides there is no neighboors that can look into my yard
