The past few months ive been reading up on mushroom hunting, but discovered somthing. There is very little information about active mushrooms that grow in the eastern provinces of canada, like nova scotia where i live. A lot of the information i found also conflicts with each other, an example would be i read that Panaeolus Subbalteatus grows in Nova Scotia (this was also read on a government website of nova scotia) but yet, i find other information saying that this mushroom grows on the pacific west cost like B.C. or California. So what i am asking is could anyone that knows ANYTHING about active mushrooms that grow in Nova Scotia please post as much information as you know about this here. Please only post if you are sure, since i am trying to clarify a few things here. Also any mushroom hunters living in Nova Scotia that have picked them i would greatly appriceate if you posted here as well. Thank you for reading this long post but it is really important that this information be available.

that government website is 100% complete bullshit. its actually the museum site, it was written by a moron and never updated.
it lists poisonous and inactive mushrooms as active, it lists mushrooms found only in PNW as found in NS, and after numerous attempts by myself and others to have it fixed, theres been zero response. ive had several dealings witht he nova scotia museum and found them to be some of the biggest flakes.
anyway.
we have for sure: Psilocybe semilanceata Panaeolus ater Panaeolus oliviaceus Panaeolus subbaltaetus Panaeolus castaneifolius Gymnopilus spectabilus.
dont bother with gymnopilus mushrooms, pan subbs and liberty caps are what youre after.
