Trouble sorting panaeolus cyanescens from panaeolus antillarum

Hi everyone, Im new to the sroomery. I hav a question about mushroom identification. I live in NSW Australia and usualy pick panaeolus cyanescens. About a week ago we went on another expedition and found a paddoc with more shrooms than i have ever seen, most of which turned out to be non active. The problem is that they look exactly like panaeolus cyanescens, although they dont seem to bruise blue as much. I believe them to be panaeolus antillarum, any way i was wondering if ther is a way of telling these two shrooms apart. Will the blue meanies stain blue instantly? Because in the blue mountains i found some very large pscilocybes in a rainforest area that did, but i find that the panaeolus cyanescens take a bit of time.
Any suggestions would be apreciated, cheers

hi yeti8888, welcome to the shroomery.
it takes a little bit of practice, but the two mushrooms you talk about can be easily told apart from one another.
most importantly Panaeolus antillarum never bruises blue and is never psychoactive.
Panaeolus cyanescens will always stain blue to some degree especially when handled roughly. most of the time they will already have some blue on the mushroom before it is even picked.
you typically want the shrooms to blue as little as possible, because the bluing is an indication that the active chemicals in the mushroom are oxidizing and seeping out of the shroom.
it takes practice to learn how to pick Panaeolus cyanescens without them bluing. and afterwards picking them you still must be very delicate with transporting the shrooms. Mjshroomer suggests "carrying the bag like it is a hot cup of coffee", being careful not to damage the shrooms.
anyways, it just takes a little bit of extra practice to tell the two mushrooms apart. its safe to later always check every mushroom for Bluing, to tell the two apart.
oh and Blue Meanies usually bruise blue within 1-10 minutes time. it is not instantaneous.
